What are the rules for Jedi?

So Cal is really starting to grow on me. His light saber skill alone is probably top 3 of all time Jedi. Truly shows just how high a caliber Jedi the Academy can produce if they get you really young.

However, I thought it was frowned upon to use the force to "show off" and the like. He seems to use force pull for a lot of stuff he picks up (like artifacts, scrolls, etc.) Don't get me wrong, he's not really arrogant like Anakin was, the creators did a good job of making it likable. He definitely has an edge to him, (especially in finisher moves) but he seems to use it to help him fight better - confidence is half the battle, just ask Yoda with that cool lightsaber pull from the belt.

Curious what other fans think.
Is Cal taking it too far?
Or is he just embracing the Force in a respectful manner given the situation the galaxy is in?
