It's freaking impossible to get skill points!
This game is way stingier with EXP than the previous game, it seems like. Sensing force echos and defeating normal enemies hardly gives any EXP. And then, to make matters much, much worse, it's stupidly easy to permanently lose EXP before it completes a skill point. At least twice I've been killed by an enemy with a nearly full EXP bar, then went back to fight the enemy again only to find that the enemy wasn't glowing golden, meaning the EXP was lost forever. Other times I get killed by a different enemy when on the way to the enemy that killed me, and that seems to get rid of all the points as well.

I'm playing on the highest difficulty, but the frustration from hardly ever unlocking skill points is hampering my enjoyment of the game.

Yes there is definitely a bug with retrieving lost XP. I have a white "X" marker on the map showing a player death, that Wompa-thing got me good :D.

I went back, beat his ass, he wasn't glowing golden though. I didn't notice at first that I should've gotten my XP back. Checked the map later and saw the marker, went back, nothing.

I guess the marker I need to touch is somewhere beneath the ground, like when dead NPCs stuck into level architecture or something like that. Annoying.
Oof, so it really is a bug. Looks like my annoyance at the developers was not misplaced!

Yeah, sometimes the xp is on the ground with a little golden beam to show where it is. But sometimes, the XP gets tossed in awkward places. So if the creature isn't glowing it means it's somewhere nearby on the ground, or may have fallen through the floor or get tossed onto a higher area. But yes it can get bugged depending on the area you are fighting and where you died.

I don't know if people said this, but most often then not your exp is actually on the ground waiting for you. I got killed by a monster boss 2-3 times and each time my exp was on the ground and all I had to do was walk to it to regain it. I've never permanently lost exp.

Well that's defiantly not a thing. They glow lol. And if it's a boss then it's left where u died. Lol. I've died plenty on the hardest difficulty. Trust me it's there lol
Both times it happened it was when fighting the whatchamacallit thing that likes to pick you up and slam you into the ground repeatedly on Koboh. I was close to a skill point, died to it, went back to it and it wasn't glowing. And I didn't see any glowing spots on the ground either. I suppose it's possible that there was a glowing spot on the ground that I missed, but I don't know why they would make it so that, with that particular enemy, sometimes the enemy itself glows, and sometimes it's a glowing spot on the ground. Because after I died, lost all my points, came back and it wasn't glowing, and died to it again, when I came back once more, this time it was glowing, except hitting it didn't give me any points back because they had already been lost.

If you're playing on the highest difficulty and not enjoying the game, turn the difficulty down to a level where you can enjoy it.
I'm enjoying the game, but it is easy to get frustrated when fighting bosses/mini-bosses. The thing is, the difficulty seems perfect for fighting regular mooks. I feel like normal non-boss gameplay would feel a bit too easy on Jedi Master difficulty.

@OP, dude, if you're dying so much that you keep losing all your exp, try lowering the difficulty, if you play the game smartly you will rarely die, this is not a game where you can rambo your way through, you have to make great use of your force powers to succeed at anything harder than the easiest difficulty, you just need to up your game
But I haven't unlocked hardly any force powers. With a lot of bigger fights, the force powers you start out with seem pretty useless. Force push and force pull does nothing against many of the bigger animals, nor against lightsaber-wielding foes. And I can never figure out how to do that time slow move after that first scripted instance of it on Coruscant.

Well, if you feel bad about that skill point exp:
1) upgrade your force push so you would be able to push giant creatures.
2) Optional - buy 'more exp' perk from the droid you save in ruins
3) Travel to Derelict Dam Bonfire, oops, i mean meditation point.
4) Go across the bridge and push off the cliff giant creature thingy. Be sure to damage him before that with something to get more exp.
5) Go back to the bonfire, rinse and repeat.
There you go, you won't need to worry about loosing your exp to stupid bosses and their abnormal hp. Well, as long as EA don't patch that, don't think they would because it's not a bug or anything.

Interesting way to farm EXP.

Sounds like a you problem.

1. Getting exp back, it will either be a glowing yellow enemy OR it will be on the ground around the spot you died. It never just disappears completely. (unless you die again before you collect exp from the first death)
2. If you are dying so much you are losing exp constantly, reduce the difficulty.

This is ENTIRELY on you OP
There were at least two instances where it did seem to disappear completely, possibly as a result of a bug. Fighting those desert yeti on Koboh.
I think I know who you are talking about. I don't remember if he glows or if you have to run to where you died. But here's an easy strategy to defeat it. There's a broken bridge in that area with a vine u can force pull to jump over. Lead him to it. Jump the bridge. Then eventually he will turn his back and walk back. U can then jump back and get some hits from behind. Then run back over the bridge. Repeat till dead

Still on my first play through, playing on Master, so not most difficult setting. At the moment I have beaten the IBS area and back to Koboh as at that point I got the Seed map and realized I have to go back and collect all these annoying seeds.

Point is I have all trees full, so not even beaten the game and have nothing to do with the points which is a huge pain, as I am going to Grand Master for NG+ but now how absolutely nothing to do with them.

It would have been nice to have some extra force unlocks after a really high skill point number, like say 10 - 20 skills per point to give you something to strive towards and an extra OP feeling for the extra time put in by the gamer.

Thanks, but I've already beaten that type of enemy a few times now.

Interesting. Does NG+ retain all your skills? I don't think it did in the last game.

One last thing. When you die. If you open your map there will be an X spot to guide you where to retrieve your lost XP

It retains all you skill points, you still need to get to the point in the game where they can be activated but as the stances are all unlocked, then you can pretty much fill out everything and by the time you get to the others you will likely have over 20-40 unusable skill points.

If I am understanding it right, as I have not started an NG+ yet

As I have the habit of doing a single game from top to bottom (once finished the scenario, I have no desire to go back to it at all immediately) I am delighted on the contrary to finally find a game that does not give too much XP, otherwise after a while I always find the game too easy in the max difficulty mode. I find it perfect as it is .

skillpoints are scarce?
lol ok, somehow someone forgot to tell the devs to implement that for my game... i have so many barely know where to put em anymore...
