Cannot get the game to launch
Hi folks,
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, launching as admin, disabling firewall, clearing download cache (within Steam), verifying game files (within steam) etc. and so far only managed to get the game to launch once. Since then... nada.

No errors. Game just won't launch.. goes through the motions but then... doesn't do anything. PC game purchased via Steam.

I'm really struggling at this stage against the desire to just refund it but I wanted to check first - anyone else out there found a solution to getting the game to launch?

Possibly had something similar with an EA game a while ago from Epic Games. Would click launch from Epic and it would do nothing. I can't remember what exactly I did but possibly uninstalled and then reinstalled EA Dekstop (Origin at the time). Don't know if you've already tried but maybe worth a shot.

In the past I've had a similar issue with Black Ops 3 where the game just won't launch. Both times this happened I uninstalled and reinstalled steam, making sure I backed up my games folder, which resolved that issue. So could be a similar issue, only had that occur with Black Ops 3 though. Sounds like your issue is more related to EA Desktop's side of things so probably won't help in this case.

Well, even after patch 4 I'm now back where I started. Cannot get the game to launch even trying the tricks that used to work above. Does anyone, on patch 4, have a sure fire way to get the damn game to launch?
i got a response from ea, its a problem with the game. They are fixing it
i hope so
Any idea when they might be fixing it? ;)

no, they jjust let me know they are handling it
I see there is a new patch out now. I will test it myself of course but just curious if anyone else who has the launch issue has patched and noticed any difference?
and..... after 3 weeks..... it still wont bloody launch!!!! awesome work EA!!!
Me too, can’t even launch the game after new patch 5
Yeah I've just tested it as well and makes no difference. Still cant launch the damn game.

Yup, same for me.

You could think that an issue that people are not able to launch the game at all are high prio but nope. Rather release patches fixing other stuff..who cares about people not even being able to start a game..

Just as a side note..I contacted support after release of patch 4 and they told me they know about it and work on it. So they did know about this issue (or the support lied) yet still didn't found it important enough to fix in the last patch.

I'm not quite sure of the sequence of circumstances but sometimes I can get it to work but it's a weird combo of running as admin / recovery on the EA app, cache clearout on the Steam side, disabling Firewalls etc.... and it doesn't seem to be same thing each time so it's kind of hit and miss
I posted this in another chat, so not sure if it is the same issue, but it sounds similar. I had the same issue on my Steam Deck (you may be able to adapt my fix to your own platform) after the recent 1.5 update and smaller incremental patch. Click Play it would original run then fail when it got to the EA App and afterwards it would just go back to the Steam screen each time I clicked Play. I think the EA App is part of the problem. When it tries to update the embedded App it fails mid-way through. This leaves the game in limbo.

I managed to fix the issue by going into Desktop Mode (Steam Deck). I then right clicked the Jedi Survivor game -> Manage -> Browse local files.

Key is to then browse to the JediSurvivor.exe under this location

/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Jedi Survivor/SwGame/Binaries/Win64

Now delete this file.

Go to this location...

/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Jedi Survivor/Origin/redist/internal

Delete the EA App launcher exe.

Now return to the Library in Steam -> Right Click the game and choose Properties.

You then want to verify the game files. After 100% it will realise that two of the files are not present and will re-download and install the exe's.

Now click Play within the Desktop mode and it should launch the game and update the EA App. If Prompted enter your EA Account details. Once you get to the main menu of the game close it down. Go back to the Game Mode (Steam Deck) and launch the game. This now works for me.
Tried that trick. It did force the re-download of the two files but made no difference to my ability to launch the game. *sigh*... the wait continues. Think I might just give up and go play something else for a month or two and then come back when someone with a brain cell has figured out why PC launch is such a bag of ♥♥♥♥♥.

Thinking the same, actually im thinking ill play cyberpunk that game runs great...
Well I found a great little distraction called Starship Troopers Extermination on Steam. A first person co-op multiplayer game that's still early access but shows great promise and drops you in the middle of the action. Base building, bugs, more bugs... its seriously fast paced, mindless, action orientated and very satisfying at harder levels. Should keep me going for a while :)
