IIRC either on the dolby site or when get linked through dolby site to fallen order or you check the games site it said somewhere that Atmos is only on xbox version.
Anyway, my post mentioned PC specifically;
Dolby Atmos does NOT work on PC version of Fallen Order or Survivor when using a home cinema system.
I see 'dolby atmos' pop up on the display on my AVR as well, but the game audio stays in stereo and my AVR only 'upscales' the audio to my overhead speakers. This is in 'Survivor'. It's been a while since i've played Fallen Order, but iirc it did the same there as well.
I don't use the dolby atmos app though. Thought that it was only for headphones. I just set Atmos in windows settings and verify that it works with a movie clip for example. So i know true atmos is working, but the game refuses. I just set 7.1 in windows and let my AVR 'upscale' it to my overhead speakers. But true ATMOS afaik is just not a thing with these games.

So could you verify your findings for me please? Like e.g. you set atmos in windows settings but also have some setting in the app??? And this is PC we're talking about in combo with an AVR right? And the AVR displays 'ATMOS' and you get full independant surround on sides (and back) and overhead speakers???
I think I had the same issue a while back, try go into your receiver hdmi settings and set it to output both tv + amp, also make sure you are using EARC. For my LG CX I need to set it on the TV side to bitstream for whatever reason, even though it will be using raw signals. Not sure why its like that, but try it. 'Cause I remember a while ago I was only getting speaker yet ATMOS was showing on my receiver. Now when ATMOS shows up it actually works and has been for every game I've played.
All we need now is Dolby Vision for Gaming
thx for your reply.
Don't quite get it though.
I go from my GPU straight into the tv (LG CX) and use eARC to passthrough to my AVR.
That way I can do 4K 120hz HDR. If I'd go to my AVR first I'd be stuck at 4K 60hz and no VRR.
Took a quick look at my CX settings but in the HDMI audio settings I only have PCM, AUTO and PASSTHROUGH as options for digital audio through eARC.
ps. All other games with true ATMOS work fine, e.g. the last Tomb Raider game.
I'm almost positive that 'Survivor' is not true ATMOS on PC. But 7.1 and then upscaling DSU in my AVR is the best i can get out of this game (and Fallen Order for that matter).
You need to set your tv to passthrough for audio. That will make the LG just pass along whatever audio's being fed by any incoming source to your receiver or EARC.
Thx. I already have it set to passthrough.
Sorry for the confusion. I too have an LG CX. You hook the HDMI from your PC to your TV and your receiver to the EARC on your TV. In the LG CX settings go into sound and make sure its set to bitstream or else it won't work, don't ask me why. This doesn't actually effect the quality.
In your receiver go to your HDMI settings and make sure its set to TV + Amp or again it won't work properly, don't ask me why. Assuming your speakers are properly configured then you should be good.
Double check to make sure you speaker size is always set to low regardless if they are large enough. I keep my crossover at 80hz which is THX approved. I keep my height speakers at 120.
Theatre?
thx again for the reply.
I do have to note that Atmos already works perfectly fine with everything else that has confirmed supported ATMOS, like other games and movies and ATMOS demos, when run on my PC.
Nevertheless I'll see if I can find the bitstream option and the TV+AMP option in my AVR and see if it makes a difference.
(And yes, in windows the speakers are set to full range, because I let my AVR do the work for processing and crossovers etc.)
