If this is only happening on 40 series cards, then it looks like a possible driver issue to me. However, there are other people with other cards reporting crashes here.
Just because people get the same error message, doesn't mean it's caused by the same thing. It all depends whether people with non 40 series cards get crashes under the exact same circumstance.
Go to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache and delete all the files inside the folder.
Some files cannot be deleted and it is ok, just delete all the files you can.
This solution is not permanenet. When the error pop ups again, repeat this process.
For AMD GPU I don't know where the cache is.
Your games won't crash because of deleting DxCache folder. You only deleted the shader cache, which will be regenerated once you play games. When you first open games they might stutter a little bit, but stutters must go away after shader cache files are created. It by no means should cause game crashes.
There is no need to worry about it, there is nothing wrong about your system. Next time, don't delete things you don't know much about and you'll be good to go.
Edit: If there indeed are game crashes, problem is somewhere else, not the dxcache folder.
Can we just revoke their Star Wars license and give it to someone who can do something right with it?
The thing I notice is that my game began to crash every 5 minute after 1-2 hours of "normal play", literally I coudn't do 10 steps ahead of the saving point that the game crashed.
After I cleaned the gpu cash, the game stopped to crash frequently and I could "play normally" again.
Launch the game and DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING until the game finishes the intro and goes into "optimizing game files".
And i do mean ANYTHING, don't move the mouse, don't touch the controller, don't alt-tab to the game if it launched in the back...
Seems to work at least for me..
My GPU is 7900 XTX. I have it undervolted but it happens also when I set stock settings.
It really appeared out of nowhere.
