You need at least 155GB free space to install the game. It's on the system requirements.

I had the same, only solution is manually delete the files from the pre-download and redo the whole shabang...

I get what you're saying but its stopping the entire unpack then saying not enough space. Its like its downloading the game again or not recognizing the files are there already. I just purged everything that wasn't necessary on my m.2 so maybe it will work now.

This isn't accurate. My download was 130GB, the preload folder is now 220GB, and it's saying I need another 126GB free to update the game.

When you pre-load, it's like the game is installed twice on your PC.

I feel like a drug dealer moving stuff around as the cops (EA Installer) uses space up. Seriously what can of fly by night pre-load is this? They can not delete archives as they decompress or have set the damn game to be missing a couple key files till launch?

Got to say, not feel like the Force is strong with EA atm, just picturing monkeys flinging feces around as they swing off servers.

When you preload, you also need that same amount of spcae when it unpacks. So that 130gb preload needs an additional 130gb of free space while it's unpacking. Similar to when you extract a rar file except it's not compressed. after everything is unpacked, Steam deletes the preload data leaving you with the unpacked game. When you preload, you gotta take this into account.
