Still want a 5800x 3D but I should be playing on ultra, so no worries here.
You won't have any problems with this game at all, its still on UE4. Even on UE5 games coming out you will be able to run them at medium - high with raytracing off since you have 16GB Vram. You can also use Upscale Technology on top of it all. A lot of people with 10GB or Less Vram on UE5 Games coming out soon are not going to be able to run on High or above though with the Upcoming UE5 games. They will more than likely be forced to Medium max + use upscale on top of it. Even some of the newer 12GB 4070 video cards will not be able to run on ultra setting with upcoming UE5 Games.
3080Ti at 1440p or with DLSS turned on which is more realistically like 1440P anyway will run really well.
3080Ti is already struggling with many games at NATIVE 4K and Ultra maxed out settings. That's why you would turn on DLSS or just drop resolution down to 1440p and you're golden.
You aren't going to like what I am about to say as we are in a Weird market / Gaming industry is about to take off even more due to UE5. The 12gb vram on the 4070 and 4070TI is going to hold you back as well on UE5 upcoming titles. It isn't going to be able to run everything 100% maxed out on ultra settings and people are going to be upset. Just wait when more UE5 games start releasing soon.
Oh der. My bad. For some reason I thought it was 8.
This was a mid-tier build to replace a gaming laptop that died with the smell of burnt ozone (a cap blew on a 1 year old laptop plugged into clean power), and took 3 months to warranty. I don't care about ray tracing, and I game at 1920x1080 on a 27" monitor (145hz IPS pannel)) and all the stuff coming out this year will be fine on it.
Next year...will see if I am making the jump to DD5 or not. Just too many bugs right now with ram.

8gb VRAM on a 3080ti....?
I agree with you, its a good GPU still but on UE5 games the 3080Ti will definitely start to struggle. People will be forced to turn on DLSS or Upscale with that GPU in 1440P or above. It won't handle very detailed UE5 games at true 4K very well I'm afraid.
A lot of the Content creators that work with UE5 already switched to Rtx 4090's because that is pretty much the only one that can max out most settings with most eye candy turned on. Some use the 7900xtx. You can optimize and lower the quality of different things in the UE5 engine though such as textures, Lumen, Nanite, etc. If the settings are set too high and its not optimized even the RTX 4090 will start to struggle.
If we were stuck in the past and Unreal Engine 5 wasn't already at this stage, then I would probably agree with him somewhat, but with the way this industry is going and technology is moving so fast a 12GB Vram GPU is definitely going to struggle and it will struggle here soon. Just wait for the next TRUE Unreal Engine 5 game to Release and you will see.
