One shotting is dumb
This rancor will one shot me with any attack I just don't get how anyone thought this would be a fun fight. In dark souls and elden ring nothing one shots you and it feels like you have a fair chance to kill them but here it doesn't feel like I am doing anything wrong it just feels like they decided to max the sliders on some random enemy

The only one shot abilities I noticed i thought was pretty fair since you get eaten but i do think should have a chance to get out of them somehow.

on master any of his hits are killing me instantly and I have two of the health up skills and I found one health up in the wild

It only 1 shots if you are playing on grandmaster and have no HP upgrades at all, and if that is what's happening that's on you.
Normally the only 1 shot move is the grab attack where it eats you.

yeah not true I beat it on master Killed 2 different ones only 1 shot was the grab but i did grab health upgrade skill asap . So it could be for you cause of a lack of upgrades

I don't mind the one spot because I'm on the hardest difficulty. But thinking of reasons why this could be annoying is because it takes longer to learn the creatures move set, and you have to wait on a load screen and run back everytime.

I wonder if a solution could be slowing you to add certain creatures in the training mode so that you can practice them without a load screen and without running back.

I don't know, just an idea and may not work at all.

Rancor is a high level boss, you shouldn't be after him as a low level character unless you already know his moves pattern or you don't mind learning them while dying several times.

His grab move is borderline mental. In some capacity, Cal is fully able to get out of that prick's mouth, using his saber, the force, BD stepping on it's toe, SOMETHING but I guess that would make the fight a lot less stressful so yeah, one shotting

took me about 6 tries.

I slightly disagree. I'm begging for the grab. The grab is easy to dodge and the rancor is slow to recover from it allowing you to do lots of damage. To me, the grab was the least scary thing about the rancor. It does mean though that if you do make a mistake on it, it feels bad. But one of his claw attacks could already one hit me so I didn't mind.

That said, I love your idea about using the lightsaber to stop the attack. If only.

It is strange, but I beat first one near settelment pretty early in the game on Master. Rancor has preetty simple moves.
Although, I had a lot of problems with the second one, when I had plenty of health upgrades and high level.
May be you should do main quest a little, get more upgrades. As people said, he has only one one-shot grab, the rest you can survive with enough health. He also has two sequential ground slams which can kill you pretty quickly, but this attack is blockable.

That was my first player death in the game, and also the first case of "running around screaming and flailing like a fool" instead of feeling like a Jedi badass.

Is there some tactic to the Rancor fight using the many bones scattered around? I immediately thought of the movie reference, but could in no way do anything except lob the thing with a force throw...to no effect.
