Also does it actually say the code was already used? More than likely it says that it isn't valid because, well, it isn't since it's a code for usage with the EA Play app

you are 100% wrong. you can add non-steam games to your steam library. click on games in top left corner and literally click on 'add non-steam game"

good job bumping a thread from a year ago to post irrelevant information no, you can't, adding a non-steam game to steam doesn't grant you a license for it on steam
All that does is give you a shortcut for launching it, that doesn't grant you a steam copy of it. Your suggestion has nothing to do with what's being discussed.
