Too much platforming
you m
On my second playthrough and OMG the platforming is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying. That’s literally 60% of the game. Stupid jumping puzzles. I want to fight people, not spend 10 minutes figuring out how to make a massive jump plan. This ♥♥♥♥ better change for the next game

I'm just trying Survivor on EA Pro sub and have to agree. This is basically Prince of Persia with lightsabres. This platformer mechanic is overused and repetitive 😕

The platforming reminds me of the time jumping wall running level from Titanfall 2 and I totally dig it. Feels like they let the level designers from that game go full wild in this one and its awesome. I especially like all the platforming bonus levels, really challenging but rewarding to finish.

Exploration, platforming, and puzzles makes this game interesting. Without it, this game would just be another LMB torture.

“On my second playthrough”

Lmao, missed all that in the first one huh?

I agree with the OP, it’s annoying and waste of time. The good think is your respawn just a few seconds before you fall, which makes it bearable and keeps the fun.

There are 2 or 3 very annoying platforming tears and I have no intention wasting my time for them.
The rest of the optional content have some platforming sequences but they aren’t too bad.

I'm know I'm really late to this discussion but there's way too much platforming. Cal is a Jedi and he's unable to climb a sand dune so he has to jump two boulders, then wall sprint about 5 times just to go roughly a 100ft. But the reason why he couldn't go up the sand dunes is because the developers created this camel like creature for that lol

In the first game most of the crazy platforming were for the puzzles but in Survivor Cal has to do several jumps / wall runs / grapples to get anywhere. Oh and also asking a party member can you move or create this so I can grapple, it's a lot lol.

I just finished Sekiro for the 4th or 5th time and there's a lot of platfroming but it makes sense. Like the gentleman said each their own but I've played a lot of games over my time and not once have I ever complained about platfroming, but this is a bit much for me.

Doom Eternal does the same thing with too much platforming. So I stopped playing it.

Ok, but it runs exceptionally well, that's the difference.

This "unrealistic" criticism is kinda dumb, since it would apply to every aspect of the game.

I mean Cal Kestis can be 2-shots by a space chicken (?) headbutt, because gameplay.

And his lightsaber should be able to cut through anything. He can't, because gameplay.

And there's no reason he can't use all 5 stances at the same time without "meditating" and switching between them. Yet he can't, because gameplay.

The "I should be able to walk over that small bush that effectively works as an invisible wall" paradox is born with videogames. But we collectively accept this as gamers in every single game, for the sake of fun, be it shooters that don't one shot human ennemies in the head, racing games with unbreakable cars, plane shooters with invisible 100s of missiles, etc etc.

Platforming is one of the oldest game mechanics in existence. To say you aren't fond of it is fine, but to try to justify your opinion as anything more than an opinion is ignorant and entitled. Its like railing against nature because you don't like how rain gets you wet...it is what it is. Your dislike of something isn't going to change the nature of that thing.

I don't like anything about city management games, but instead of complaining about them and asking devs to put in more lightsaber fights I just choose not to play them. My negative opinion of Sim City should in no way affect the legions of people that enjoy that type of game. To think otherwise is selfish.

*Peppermill, you're absolutely right that a couple of those platforming tears were brutal, but when I finally did them I felt a glorious sense of satisfaction. There was a time when gamers knew this as fact, so I'll say it plainly: doing hard things is good for your soul.

Level design is the best part of the game.

Platforming isn't just a 'part' of the game, the point the OP is clearly making is the fact this mechanic is so overused. I think it's fair to say this game's core mechanic is basically Prince of Persia with lightsabres.

This game has the Tomb-Rider-sickness, by a lack of a good script it is all platforming, jumping and grapple-hook. The main story is thin. This is a climbing game instead of a starwars game. I got so tired of it. Sometimes there is a lot of wall-running - jumping - cutscene - jumping again without a chance for a saving so every time you fall you have to begin the sequence again... and again... and again... For a game that expensive you should expect else..
