I wish this game was Jedi Knight 4 instead
Jedi Knight has much better combat, physics based and dependent how and accurate you were with the lightsaber, is fluid, there are no cringe artificial pauses to give the attack more drama, combat was instead about precision & fast and deadly and million times more spectacular, the lightsaber behaves like a lightsaber and not a god of war sword with a lightsaber skin,
using the force is much better designed, the protagonist is not some cringe little kid but a chad, but I guess since disney own the franchise we won't see star wars game where you can cut your enemies in half dynamicly and where the target audience are not little kids

Someone is really offended by people pointing out that Jedi survivor is a worse game then Jedi Knight
It's hard to compare them. Jedi Knight is 25 years old now, and a first person shooter. Fallen Order is a Star Wars action adventure.
I loved Jedi Knight and Dark Forces, but I couldn't say they're better or worse than Fallen Order. They aren't the same kind of games.

Yeah well I don't think they're that different afterall, while Jedi Knight has its roots in a FPS it has very detailed melee sword combat on top of that, compared to falled order level design is somewhat similiar, platforming with force powers, little puzzles, slicing through storm troopers.. Something like KOTOR is inherently different..
And maybe its just me, but seeing the first Fallen Order gameplay gave me off strong Jedi Knight vibes, maybe thats were the dissapointentment comes from

There is a remake of Dark Forces 2 with the Unreal engine.

OP is mad
Why lol, I'd be mad if I would've spent 70€ on garbage like this
Coldhands 11 abr. 2023 às 5:20
^Why is this garbage?
Also, it doesn't look like you HAVE spent any money on Jedi Survivor.

Because the combat is less interesting and dynamic than a game 20 + years its senior?

It's weird to me that this action-adventure souls-like series is being compared to an FPS like it's supposed to be similar. I get some people have a lot of nostalgia for Jedi Outcast/Academy, but I would think expectations for this game would have been set by its immediate predecessor; not a series from 20 years ago in a different genre.

Like I said I don't find these games different just because Jedi Knight is 2 pure FPS in the first chapters, ofc comparing something like Half Life to it then its kinda different which is a pure FPS,
however Jedi Knight is not, the classificiation as FPS comes solely from the perspective in the first chapters and the fact you can pick up any ranged weapon and use it yourself,

otherwise the difference is superficial, Jedi Knight is much closer in terms of gameplay to Fallen order then it is to half life,
you have platforming sequences that you overcome with force powers, you get more powerful powers as the game progresses,
you discover new combat stances with the light saber etc, you customize your lightsaber, you throw your light saber in both games by using right mouse button etc, theyre not inherently different but very comparable

tbh, fallen order/survivor is actually even inspired by the jedi knight series

JK were proper FPS style games with a physics engine. This game is a lot of canned moves/animations, quicktime events and you just activate them at the right time. Also an annoying amount of filler content like jump puzzles. It's quite simplistic compared to JK2 really, it just looks modern.

Also the main character in JK2 was much more entertaining.

Fair enough. I don’t really agree that Fallen Order and Jedi Knight share a lot of gameplay similarities, and I’ve never really held Outcast’s/Academy’s melee combat in super high regard (it’s fine, but kind of frantic for my tastes) but I get where you’re coming from.
I’m glad Survivor is a sequel to Fallen Order, but I’d love to see a remake trilogy of the Kyle Katarn games. Especially Jedi Knight.

unfortunately all the story of Kyle Katarn didn't get made cannon and we got rey instead... sad times, we don't even get Mara Jade in star wars cannon.
Jensen Sarpy 11 abr. 2023 às 18:02
I agree. Someone needs to continue the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight franchise IP and make a Jedi Knight 4 or Dark Forces 5. I still play that series to this day.

I think the only thing they'd need to really change is the MacGuffin in level one of Dark Forces. Otherwise nothing really interferes with the Disney Canon.

Kyle Katarn is a gary stu.(Male version of Mary Sue)

He became a jedi without any training. And he defeated Desann, a dark jedi that Luke couldn't defeat.

He defeated the Dark Forces project all by himself.(Despite this fact that 5 or 6 of the Dark Troopers could easily wipe out a rebel base)

Oh, and he stole the death star plans all by himself.

Disney copied the first part of Kyle Katarn's story for Finn.(An imperial stormtrooper that turns rebel) but they decided to turn Finn into a side kick and an unnecessary character after that.

There is a difference tho,
Kyle Katarn was always force sensitive which made him a powerful soldier by himself,

before he fought Desann he came a long way, and Qu Rahn tought him to use the force and to fight with the light saber,
not to mention he is a powerful individual even without it,

while Mary Sue wasn't a elite soldier before hand and became able to defeat a sith by merely picking up a light saber
