Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy
That's the real deal.
100% agree. The only saving grace was the somewhat interesting plot around that Nightsister Merrin. Almost everything else was bleh...
I especially hated the insane backtracking. Yeah, right, Metroidvania... in reality they just tried to artificially inflate game time by making you run through every level at least twice.
The constant respawns destroyed any sense of immersion, progression or story-telling. The "threat" you just defeated simply reappears ten seconds later... yup, feels like I really made a difference... or maybe not.
Oh well, I'll probably still grab it on sale because it's Star Wars but, yeah, expectations are not exactly stellar and with the success of Elden Ring they have probably cranked up the annoying elements like respawns, backtracking and checkpoint saves even further.
Customising saber without actually any gameplay effects? Yep. Boring af combat with veeeeery Limited and uninspiring force usage? Indeed
Tons of comparison with dark souls, when it doesn't even have a Single gear with stat and/or proper effect on gameplay, such as in proper arpgs? Mmm, I say- mediocre is very-Very optimistic...... crаp? More likely.
The fact it never came anywhere near the force unleashed and/or jedi knight series is astonishing, but still some people loved it, cause "wow, at last we got a single player game without microtransactions"...... probably cause it was by ea ^_^
Story-wise? It was alright, let's hope they keep main chars (with voice acting) from first title. That's pretty much the only reason for me to be interested in the sequel
Still, might watch the cutscene compilation for story purposes.
