Development Diary #5 - Marathon Mode

Good day!

In this development diary we’re going in more detail about our new Game Mode called Marathon Mode. This is a requested game mode for more experienced Idle Game players who want more of a challenge.

At this point in time we implemented the following changes for this new Game Mode which can be enabled by starting a new game once we will release this patch.

Now we go in more detail about what changes are in Marathon Mode right now. Note this is highly experimental and we are play testing it ourselves together with Nice Guy who has provided great feedback so far.

Here are the current changes:

• The option Marathon Mode is selected at the New Game window
  
• Unlock costs are x10 the normal costs
  
• Artifact costs are 100 Coins
  
• Powerup costs are 250 Coins
  
• Quest Item costs are 250 Coins
  
• Reduce Artifact Coin, Treasure and Score gain from 15 to 5
  
• Reduce Powerup, Powerdown Coin, Treasure and Score gain from 30 to 10
  
• Reduce Quest Item Coin, Treasure and Score gain from gain from 30 to 10
  
• The Coin Regeneration Rate is 5x the normal rate
  
• Coin Regenerator gives x0.2 times the normal increase
  
• Green High Value Coins are 2 Coin, Treasure and Score instead of 5
  
• Red High Value Coins are 3 Coin, Treasure and Score instead of 10
  
• Split leaderboard in two for normal players and Marathon players

Note that Artifact, Powerup and Quest Item drop times aren’t changed so in this Game Mode you will fill that Treasure Room with a lot more artifacts since a playthrough will take a lot longer!

We also received feedback from our Steam reviews that people would like more themed Artifact Unlocks. So we are going to focus on getting more Themed Artifact Unlocks too!
