But those ARE your choices... It's called an RPG, you know, where a game lets you do many things out of which you choose what you want to do. All this crying about an optional romance path is so pathetic. These have been in games for literally decades.

Actually, that`s just one kind of RPG. JRPGs for example let you slip into the role of an already existing character, with their own ambitions and interests. That was always one of the huge differences. And because the charachter already had their own agenda and charackter, it was far easier telling compelling stories. The flipside of this was that it takes away player agency, because it puts you more in the role of someone experiencing the life of someone else and therefor put you in the co-driver position. Western RPGs usually just gave you a blank slate OR sometimes litteraly let you play as yourself (Ultima is the best example) and just put you in a situation you aren`t familiar in. That leaves a lot of agency, but gives the whole game a more introspective focus and because it becomes way harder to predict what the character does (when you aren`t railroading him down one lane) and therefor makes it way more difficult to program, and usually makes the game shorter.
In the last 10-15 years, more and more games started to blend these genres more together, finding a middle ground of these things.
Edit: Not going into the Henry problematic, cause I just dont care. He may like to ♥♥♥♥ hogs for all I care, as long as its optional and the rest of the story and gameplay is interesting.

Finally someone who gets it. I understand the gay thing bothers some, which to be fair seems pretty out of place comparing the first game, but it is optional so I am not too worried about it. Glad it is an option and not another company forcing you to play a certain agenda in their games. While I don't see the necessity of having the option in the game, it's not like people weren't doing that back then. Was not accepted at all, but at the end of the day it is simply a game and I am sure there is so much more to this than Henry having the OPTION of being romantically involved with other dudes.
