henry got knighted in his rump by hans short sword
Yeah, you’re definitely skilled enough and have helped the nobility enough by halfway through KCD2 to be promoted to knighthood. Dunno why they haven’t done it yet.
Still has to do more errands for Dadzig and Hanush.

Don't just stand there lad, pour us a drink!

Spoiler for end of 1st act Otto von Bergow definitely dangles this carrot to get us to do what he wants

Pretty sure you need to own land to be considered for knighthood unless your family already had a lineage (squire route also works but Henry is way past that). shiny armor and a war horse are not the qualifications for knighthood but I'm sure Sir Capon would bestow land to Henry eventually, he just hasn't because they're in a war at the moment. (he at least joked about giving Henry a castle)

hans and henry are too young to be knighted obviously.

well, maybe in the 3rd game, i mean it is said in the game that in order to be knighted you first have to serve as a knights squire for some time and henry is called hanses squire multiple times during the game.

theoretically, if henry truly is hanses squire, henry could be on his way to knighthood but we will see what happens in the future.
I suspect that if Henry is successful in his mission in KCD2, Radzig and Hanush might reward him with knighthood. I personally have no problem with being a commoner because I feel it makes Henry's adventure a bit more special as he has to navigate the higher circles of society as an outsider that is often looked down upon. And I like being a rugged and down to earth professional man-at-arm rather than a privilegied aristocrat for once.

hes a bastard
Henry's a squire, so he might have become a knight later on after the game.

Plenty of knights historically had no land of their own (indeed, many were household knights) and being a bastard was no barrier in many cultures (it was for inheritance, but being a knight is different from inheriting a title + the related privileges.).
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Because he's a useful tool, that can be tossed if needed. He can also do things deniably that a knight can't do (since a knight is a direct representative). You can say sure hang the commoner we didn't tell him to do that, not as easy if he's knighted.
There is no benefit to knighting him only complication. Sentiment wouldn't enter into it. If he were knighted, oaths of obligation go both ways. He's also apparently happy enough to hang around like a puppy anyway, so more strings aren't required.
