The Kuttenberg Tournament is completely broken

Sword and Shield works fine, but then they(bots) neither collect their longswords nor do they go into the arena. One reload one dude teleported in, but with his shield and sword in hand. Another time they(bots) where fighting sword and shield vs fists.
Please fix it.

you often can fix them not going into the arena by skipping time, most of the time i did not even have to skip the full hour

yep it's broken. You can finish it but it won't be satisfyingin its current state. The reward for the tourney is garbage anyway and it's a repeatable quest so don't bother. Wait till it's fixed.

the rewards get better with everytime you win the tournament up until a maximum reward of 1200 groschen per disciplin and even tier 3 noble armor pieces

for me its both, the first few times i did the tournament it was bugged, (no progression stopping bugs though)

i dont know what changed it but when i did antoher tournament a few real life days and lots of non tournament related ingame quest progression later the tournament suddenly started to work just fine, without any bugs or problems

I got ambushed by some generic robber baron as soon as I reached Kuttenberg and was able to buy all Noble armour and still make a profit. But I guess that tourney would be nice when I try a no-looting run when hardcore comes out and the tourney is fixed so I don't fight vs some brawler in a sword fight, a sword and shield opponent in a longsword fight, or auto-win a round by skipping time on my spot while my opponents are stuck trying to get their gear.

I only borked the tournament once when i accelerated time when it was my time to fight.

weird that didnt work for me lol, tourny started and first round was normal but then when i was supposed to have a second fight i sat there for way too long with nothing happening so i tired to 'wait' and when i did that after the wait it just said failed

sounds like you waited too long, if you set the wait to 1 hour you can cancle it before the full hour has passed.

also it could be that combined with the time you waited without the waiting system you let too much time pass and the tournament moved on to the next stage.

but of course it could be that waiting does not work all the time

Make sure you have the correct weapon for the round. Even if you can have a 2h sword and a shield, the fight is about a 1h sword and a shield. as long as you dont switch to 1h and shield, it will not continue.

No, not completely.
It didn't work on my first playthrough, but worked like a charm for the second. That would make it "intermittently glitchy" not "completely broken".

I did have a thought about this though, I wonder if my problems had something to do with being too keen and showing up too early? Like maybe I showed up before 8am watched the people and judges arrive, but never triggered the cut-scene because the spot that triggers it is outside the arena? Not saying this is the answer, I'm just thinking out loud.
