pebbles with stat boost running out of stamina... the map isnt big enough for that.
pretty weak argument (before horse race dlc).
speed is nice and all, but since i ride offroad & through woods a lot, its actual use is lessened (before horse dlc).
leaving any loot behind seems extremely unrealistic to me, thus any drop in carry capacity is the worst option (before horse dlc).
and no, erdel with 140 stamina (instead of 210 (pebbles)) and 338 carry cap (pebbles 358) is not worth it, as 140 stamina is in the pebbles-without-buff-range, at which point is becomes a factor.
not sure if unbuffed pebbles (127 stamina) is able to win the nomad horse race.
also assuming the horse race dlc includes jumping, stamina will be worth a lot more.
if you go for capacity do not take hering, its capacity is way lower than the capacity of pebbles

i´d go with meadow if one is able to swap to pebbles without much hassle.
(yes, going back to map 1 and to go semine is too much).
really depends if a "catch up" mechanic is present or a lot of jumps or speed actually being important.
assuming it´s a series of races and the player isnt able to swap horses between those races, sticking with pebbles is a good idea.
if not, getting the right horse for each race (assuming there´s a limited number with no repeats) ... anyway, i believe the top of line horses stats (speed&stam) aren´t so much higher than pebbles stats that this actually matters.
i havent tested getting a new horse and whether or not you´re able to get pebbles back + semine story + map-change, etc.
I don't think I mentioned running out of stamina. Both of the horses I mentioned have 60 speed, which is why I think they're better than pebbles. If you want to use Gringolet over Kinscem then by all means do so. Kinscem is just my preference but I won't disagree if you want to argue Gringolet is better.
Is there something about speed that I don't understand that makes it less applicable to being off road?
Loot sucks, imo. Selling it is a huge hassle and even if I do bother to do so, what am I going to do with money? Tutors are by far my primary expense and I just steal back all of the money I pay them with.
usually i slow down in the woods.
money isnt an issue, but i like looting. also selling stuff gives rep.
as said, maybe speed (&stam) is more important with the horse race dlc.
i havent tested the difference between 55 and 60 speed, but i doubt it´s too noticeable during "normal" gameplay.
obviously if carry cap isnt a factor, either you go for speed or courage (when mounted combat).
i´m quite happy with pebbles being top of the middle pack... before the horse dlc is out
How to make gringolet your horse after stealing him?
As for racing, eh, I think the AI get boast stats because I checked Hans horse and it suppose to have a lower speed than my upgraded Pebbles 2.0, and yet I almost lost the race against him. I needed to go straight rather than any of the slight curves in order to beat him and even than he was only a few inches behind me.
Before the races DLC had no incentive to invest in better stats.
First game swapped it for Shadowmare.
In KCD1 Pebbles wasn't very good at all which gave me the motivation to seek out a better horse and go around horse traders checking them all out.
In the end I bought Al Buraq and because I had chosen him after a lot of shopping around, I felt a lot more of a bond.
He wasn't some old nag that I had been given but a horse I had admired and chosen, a horse that I had saved money to buy and really loved.
I got him a beautiful caparison, green with silver crescent moons on it because I thought it suited his Arab name.
I always found it weird that almost every YouTuber made such a big deal of Pebbles and how it had to be Pebbles.
I think it's a shame that they have taken away the motivation to choose your own horse now, back then almost every horse was better than Pebbles so there were lots to choose from, now there isn't any sense of progression there and although I will still get another horse when I find a good one, it seems like there is very little choice without making a serious downgrade which is a bit hard to do.
In short, while I love the game, I hate the 'good old Pebbles' buff and wish they hadn't done it.
I feel the same. What’s the point of so many different horses when all of them are worse than the one you get for free.
