Missed out on The Jaunt
Spoilers

I couldnt do The Jaunt because I couldnt afford a horse. Then I mistakenly assumed the two knights would not leave without me so I went around trying to make some money. Just to find out that they had left on time and I had to wait for them to come back.

So I missed out on the end of that quest. I made some bad choices as well in the chatting but still seems a bit brutal to have you miss out on a whole quest just because I was late and didnt have any money.

Although I also am impressed, because with any other RPG game they would have waited around for you indefinitely. So I think this was good design, if also mildly annoying.

You were told by the semines to be there at dawn. You were told they would go without you and wouldn't wait if you were late lol. That's exactly what happened. Nothing brutal about it. They had a job to do, and they had to do it with or without you. BTW for next time. You can get pebbles back for free pretty early so you won't be left behind on this quest 🫡

True! I learned that out after accepting that quest and panicking got a moment thinkin I needed to steal a horse to go with and then I suddenly saw pebbles, intimidated dude man at the stables and he's like 'don't kick my ass please take the nag for free!' 🤣🤣👍

Aargh I am rubbish at playing these games lol, why didnt I think of that rather than running around trying to get 150 money together.

yeah, take it slow and easy, look around first, talk to the folks around before triggering the next quest step via NPC dialogue, there is often something to find out that will be useful later on.

This quest is the big exception tho that its in fact time gated, most quests it does not matter if you actually come back the next morning (or whatever time set) or 2 weeks later.

and therein lies the wonder behind the things WH have done with KCD1 and 2. The multiple ways you have of dealing with the problems they throw at you lol. You can steal a horse, smooth talk your way into getting your old one back for free, or buy one and then go do the quest. I can understand the frustration though. Like I said, I was close to missing out on the quest myself before I realized I could get Pebbles back for free lol

If the Miller Dies though and you missed the knights at Semine, your completely hosed. That's a pretty large over sight on the part of the Devs, Completely GameBreaking if your hours into the game really.

I'm unaware of in what way killing the miller (I worked for the blacksmith to make it to the Semine wedding so I never talked to the miller in Trosky region) but you shouldn't be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because of it? You can just wait for the semine boys to come back from their adventure in Apollonia and talk to them and they should tell you what happened, no?
Wait? Couldn't do the mission without a horse? if this is the one where you follow Gnarly and Lord Semine to find the Blacksmith cart - I finished this mission by running along behind them without a horse since I didn't have the money to buy Pebbles.

Though I do find it interesting they did leave without you, curious if they come back stating they didn't find anything and you have to make a trip back out with them. Or do they just simply reset without any discovery dialogue?

is it necessary to keep the semines anyway?...in my playthrough that entire castle was...slaughtered.

You actually get Pebbles for free if you use 'be reasonable' ... it is *supposed* to be un f uppable.

The next day when I found them they said they had found the cart which the two hands had tried to sell to a known criminal. They had employed one of the hands who was innocent, and hanged the other one.
