Why do the bells ring?
I hear bells ring, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. I want to know what the rules are, just to understand the world a bit more. Do they ring when stores close? Do they ring 12 times at noon? Can anyone tell me the rules, or logic behind them?

I have tried looking this up, but if I search for anything with "KDC2" and "bells" the results are all about that mission. I just want to know the lore, and immerse myself a bit more :)

Thanks for any enlightenment.

Edit: Not asking about the mission where the 12th ring is so important. I'm referring to the ambient church bells when free-roaming the world.

12 rings of a church bell mean an execution in the storyline *no spoilers i think* and historically but I don't have facts to back that up. Technically if you're hearing 12 in a row, I would assume there's a random event also about to happen somewhere MAYBE but I don't wanna give THAT much credit to the development team if it isn't an implemented feature.
Mostly this is just a fun response no real info here
One of the NPCs (I think one of the guards that pulls Henry out but could've been someone else) said that A ringing bell would indicate to the higher ups that it was execution time, but the higher ups slept through the bell, which resulted in the person meant to be hung to be set free. Now, They've set it to be for the 12th bell, so nobody would ever miss it again.

toy could find that discussion if you searched up someone's walkthrough when you *MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD* complete Wedding Crashers and end up in prison with Hans.

Hope I could help!
also, you're almost always better off posting this on reddit. The forums here aren't so lively.

irl - 1 bell ring for time of the day. i live less then a block from a large Catholic church with a working bell tower. i havent had to buy a watch in 20 years.
They used to ring them to give the time of day (one ring by hour of the day), to announce a religious service, to time executions like they said during "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and some other special occasions like a marriage happening. When you hear them randomly in town, it's most likely for the time of the day.
