Kuttenberg comes too late?
Does anyone else feel by the time they can get to this huge city it's lost most of appeal, like you've seen most of what you can expect?

After about fifty or so gameplay hours, I made it out of the starting map. Most, but not all the side quests I finished first. At times it felt like a hard slog to get through parts of it but then after the wedding it picked up pace and it was a rollercoaster. From getting frustrated at being unable to take on single bandits to levelling up and regaining my status, I'm loving the game!

Then comes the second map. Only now I am high level and well equipped and financially secure. I'm no longer a feeble pauper, I'm Henry the Killer! Once I leave the starting keep I go off to do some minor quests and stumble upon bandits. They're easy to dispatch now and it turns out I've hit the motherlode as these guys are loaded! I have lots of money and equipment to sell. I then unlock the Survival skill that reveals the map. I immediately regret it as I go from a stranger in these lands to knowing instinctively where everything is. At this point it feels like a cheat code. Many of my combat skills are above 20 and lots of my other skills are maxed or getting there. I have the Brunswick equipment and have little need to replace it. Pebbles is the only horse I'll need. I'm 15 hours into this map and I've yet to go to Kuttenberg. The reason? Aside from the storyline, it feels ... Redundant?

I'm sure it will be spectacular but by putting it into the game at this stage I feel it's lost it's impact. Rattay I'm KCD1 which was tiny compared to this you came across early and would frequent constantly. I realise I'm putting off going there. I imagine there's lots of hours left but I can't help thinking I'm going to be overpowered. It's easy to max out speech and charisma so nearly every quest option is available. Its not like I was grinding xp either.

So I'm just wondering if any of you lot felt the same that you get to this city a bit too late in your character's development? I'm loving the game though and would definitely play it again, only next time get to this map sooner.

Hard to say. I am right now at the story where I talked to Musa in the camp, I have no idea how long the story will go on or how much of it is left.

Would be cool to have seen a city like this before but I don't feel its necessarily too late.

I think it doesn't matter too much as the city enables you to roam a lot, do stuff, explore things. This game is a lot about exploring, not soo much about doing quest after quest. My goal is to uncover every inch of both maps, do small side quests here and there, take out bandits and at some point work on my professions a little more until I proceed with the main quest. I think this is what the game wants you to do.
I think I know how you feel. I unlocked the Explorer perk when I was still in Trosky and had already uncovered a lot of the map, and completed every side quest, so it felt quite earned there. But yeah once I got to the Kuttenberg region, I regretted it immediately. Kind of felt no need to explore now I had everything on the map, and even exploring the city lost its appeal quickly as I knew where everything was.

I'm considering ending this playthrough and probably starting a new one once the DLCs start rolling out, and avoiding that perk, and also barrel through the story more instead of doing every single side quest in the trosky region before hitting up Kuttenberg.
I find it's quite the opposite, Rattay lost its cool pretty quick and the rest of the map became bland even quicker, as with Kuttenberg the waiting and expectation is more satisfying, it's like a good slow progression from smaller to larger scale.
Hmm as an explorer I have 161 hours and just entered Kuttenberg and rested at Suchdol. My skills are almost full and I can duel anyone right now.
One thing I've found so far on the second map is the other villages are numerous but don't seem as "alive" as the settlements on the first map. Feels like they had to rush or put more effort into Kuttenberg. It feels like much of the illusion of a real world has been shattered before I get to what should be the star of the show. I know the storyline will be epic but I'll not be struggling to get by.
I feel like i came to Kuttenberg overleveled in almost all skills.
Pretty soon i hit the top levels
I am annoyed by low income shopkeepers in Kuttenberg, i cant sell all the plate armor to.
They game is still fun, but there is no incentive to do sidequests for the money rewards if you can make more money by selling loot.
I think that a game economy is to blame or Henry progression is way to fast in combat skills.
I took explorer skill on the second map and it was a godsend in time saving.
Another thing is blacksmitting top level skill may be reached to fast,
then you can craft few bearded axes with almost no material cost and get any gear you want.

the second i stepped into kuttenburg the game felt empty and dead
It’s the journey, not the destination…
Yeah mid game is the best part, I've spent a lot of time doing sidequests in Trostky, and arriving at Kuttenberg at level 20 there's isn't much challenge anymore
