Does romancing someone even do anything?
After 50 hours of side-questing, exploring, and riding to get the "good old Pebbles" perk, I finally started the first main quest. I went ahead and danced with the girl in the purple dress. Then after dealing with the beggars I passed by her again and she called over to me initiating the first romance option.

I don't want to commit to a romance option this early in the game but I was wondering if it even mattered. Does romancing anyone even do anything like affecting your stats, reputation, or give you certain privileges based on their skills or social standing? Or is it literally just about whichever romance option you like the most? On that note, are there any actual companions you can travel with that have romance options that improve combat performance when you're together? I only have Mutt but I had a feeling there might be at least one female human companion you get later on too like the one with the crossbow on the Game's Banner in the library.

No.... its a gooner compliant feature. You get some stats buffed for few ingame hours cause you got that imaginary willy wet. To please gooners and sell more copies.

You lose the option to choose Theresa as your wife in the end and don't get the final cutscene of you returning to Rattay.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. So it's literally just there to have sex with your romance choice and get a few short minor buffs? I was honestly hoping for something like what good old Fable 2 and 3 did with marriage and even potentially kids or an extra income from the wife. That's disappointing if that's really all it is.

Do you meet Theresa at some point during the main story? Or does that mean I just can't romance anyone at all for the entire game until the end sequence when Henry returns to Rattay and sees her again?

this is only if you romance rosa, katherine, or hans

you can get your willy wet with unimportant characters and still get the theresa ending
