REALISTIC game..... Nope.
This game is so realistic that it only eases you into the story and side missions and you don't even have real freedom after the introductory tutorial.

So real that a sword or an ax does not kill a bare peasant in a maximum of 3 blows, but rather, there is a 50% chance of taking them with his fists and dying.... So realistic that 5 bow arrows aimed, in the chest of an unarmored poacher, do not knock him out... Or that wolves or dogs do not die after 5-6 sword blows.

I understand that at the beginning of the game you have a low level, but then again:

"5 arrows in the drawn bow, in the chest, does not kill an unarmored man"

.. If the game is based exclusively on Skills... Without being able to level up outside of story missions (especially fighting other opponents).... Then I prefer the first game where it increases skills faster.... However the combat still sucks.... Better than the first, but not excellent.

Softcore KCD never was realistic, and never intended to be. Jindřich and NPC's have the same rules of stats forming. So if poachers are dying in 2 chest shots - Jindro would be dying too. Hence all casual gamers (the target audience of KCD2) would cry and moan on forums. So you should just wait for hardcore - dying with one lucky strike would be included just like in KCD1.

You can level up the skills and stats of Jindřich outside the main quest.

Level progression is faster in KCD2. It's very noticeable. There's practically a meme of "i'm level 9000 and i'm just about ready to go to the wedding." Add a Henry's Fox and it's completely ridiculous.

If you merely do all the side quests in Trosky, you'll be around level 20 in most skills.

Besides, i think people are confused as to what kind of a game KCD/KCD2 really is: According to normos it's a simulator of some type... Which is definitely not true.

It's Skyrim with more "life-life" gameplay mechanics. But it's a far cry from a game like Arma: The "simulation" is more of an "immersive sim" style of thing: Like Deus Ex: They attempt to simulate a chunk of specific area / time realistically.

But it definitely doesn't play like an actual simulator. It's literally the same type of game as Skyrim.

KCD2 leans heavily into the make believe, much more than KCD1. No I don't like this new direction but as yet it doesn't harm your fun al that much and also you can mod things to gain a more realistic world.

KCD2 is a great game no doubt there but it could have been so much better if they had not made certain decisions, some of which were borderline stupid.
Saying that it's still the best RPG on steam to date.
There are publications that call it GDR... There are publications that call it RPG.... And then there are the authors who say they want to recreate a realistic world..... In short, decide what this game is.

Furthermore, it has always been the people at warhorse who said they wanted to recreate historical realism... The fact that it is still a game where it has classic game elements such as running around wearing armor or having an inventory the size of an Amazon warehouse, does not mean that you have to put me in too much trouble to force myself to go where the developers want... If I shoot with a rifle (even from the game) it should eliminate an unarmored enemy instantly, given that the CaC's ability does not affect the level.
