I feel miserable playing this game
I really enjoyed KCD1 fighting, but I can't win any fight in this one, that's clearly a skill issue, but man, I can't win ♥♥♥♥. I'm training with Tomcat and can't do ♥♥♥♥ to him, I couldn't even win with two bandits at the same time. I shouldn't have preordered this one
Edit. Thank you all for your tips, I really appreciate it

i am winning fights but not always the first second or third time. now i am always getting jumped by 4 to 8 dudes with better kit then i have. in addition i swing one time but for some reason henry keeps moving forward and swinging 2 extra times and i did not even press the buttun. which leaves him open for 2 or 3 dudes to get 2 or 3 free hits on me. its pissing me off. i block riposte and then try to back up to keep them from flanking me. instead Henry will continue walking for ward and swingin. i am starting to get pissed. its like the AI don't have to deal with stamina. they swing full power every time without getting out of breathe. i swing twice and i am sucking wind. i am only lvl 8 with 10 strength, 11 agility, and 11 vitality i think. whichever governs stamina. i have a rusty breast plate, old brigindine leg armor and arm armour with hour glass guantlets, a common long sword i made and a kettle helm. the dudes attacking me now are essentially wearing full plate. my warhammer barely makes a dent in it, my glave won't keep them at a distance because they can close 50 meters in a second or so and swing at me 3 times and the only reason they stop is because i was finally able to block the third attack. often they start swinging and even with a perfect block or a dodge they continue to swing without a break in their combo's. they do not have to worry about stamina and that is not fcking cool at all when we do have to manage stamina. i am getting so frustrated now. once i got to the main quest for whom the bell tools i have not been able to win any fights with bandits. why warhorse thought it was ok to have us way outnumbered by dudes with better kit, most of which is not even available for me to purchase as of yet, and they don't have to manage stamina. its not all skill issues for me or most likely everybody posting on this thread. when we have to manage stamina and the enemy doesn't winning a fight will be very difficult i played KCD1 without to much of a problem. the fights were fair. i lost some and won some. some fights i had to train a little more and then i would go back and get the win. i am unable to do that is this game. no matter how much training i have done to date it has not made much of a difference in this game like it did in the first one. warhorse neeeds to fix that ♥♥♥♥. now, i imagine 3 million fan boys are going to comment and say sounds like a skill issue or some other smart ass remark or they will have some smug ass condescending remark asking if we tried the obvious and most basic things because we are to stupid to spend any time training with tom cat and with the dude at simene. and not some time in my case. i have spent several hours training. and why the hell does the black smith trade not increase any stats like strength and stamina at the minimum? i am a welder by trade. however at my house i have a small forge set up for making various tools, knives, and i am working on an axe currently. i also live in florida and its a hot mother fcker working that forge. and yes swinging a 4 to 6 pound hammer for several hours is a work out. except for in this game. fan boys will tell me how wrong i am though. somebody will say smithing isn't physically demanding even though they have never done it in their lives or never joined steel by welding or even sweat for their jobs. even though i have worked as a welder and a black smith for about 25 years some douche is going to tell me i don't know what i am talking about lol

Once your character levels up its fighting, you will have a much, much easier time too.

Getting a sword with high slash damage and some good pieces of armour will make fighting even very, very easy: you just swing and swing until the enemy is dead, it requires no skill from you, the player.

Except when you fight multiple opponents... then you should try to kill the unarmed people first and slowly walk back while fighting the remaining ones, so that only one attacks you.

Even fighting wolves becomes very easy when you have plate mail leggings and some levels in sword.

level it up to what? my warfare is 12, sword is 11 and heavy weapons is 11 and pole arms is 9. my strenght is 11 or 12, agility is 11, vitality is 11, i kicked kcd1 ass and in this one i struggle. i am always jumped by 4 to 8 dudes wearing armor not available to me yet, namely full plate, the best i have available at the point in the game i am at is a rusty breast plate. i have a longsword i made myself which i swing twice and i have no stamina left, the warhammer and shield i bought i get 3 swings and i have no stamina left and the dudes i am fighting don't have to worry about managing stamina. they swing 5 or 6 times without a missing a beat regardless of perfect blocks. i can perfect block and riposte and they just brush that aside and continue with their combo. their combo attacks don't even stop when i block and counter attack. when i use a pole arm they close a 50 yard gap in about 2 steps and hammer me with a combo that perfect blocks or dodging does not break up. in addition i usually have 4 guys attacking me at the same time that don't have to worry about stamina. so i am always walking backwards trying to keep them from flanking me or getting behind me. also, after a riposte henry keeps moving forward and swings 2 more times even though i am pushing backwards and not even pressing attack. every time that happens he is left open and gets smashed by multiple sword attacks that i can't do anything about. i don't know if this is artifical difficulty or a bug or glitch. however, something ain't right. i did not have problems like this with the first game. the AI cheats bad in this game. hell, dudes wearing full plate can run me down even if i am carrying half the weight. thats bs too, warhorse needs to fix this cheating bs going. and please don't sate the obvious or try the git gud bull sht and don't act like i have no idea what i am doing either. because i do. this is not my first rodeo and i didn't move out of moms basement yesterday

I couldn't get the hang of the combat in KCD1 and I doubt I'll do any better here. Everything about KCD1, aside from the narrative, was full of badly executed game design ideas. Walk around for 5 minutes and people react like you've been assaulted because you got some dirt on you Walk around for 5 minutes and your dog forgets you exist and starts running off - only stops if you feed it and pet it every 20 real-life seconds. These are just a few of the bad design choices that were never addressed in the original.

Anyway, I haven't touched the new one yet but I'm not surprised to hear they managed to make combat worse. The ideas they have aren't bad in and of themselves, but the execution of them is where they face plant constantly.

it would help if they didn't let the ai cheat. the first game the combat was fair. i would win sometimes and loose sometimes. i would go train and then go back and win that fight. that does not work anymore. now the ai does not have to worry about stamina like the player does. they can attack non stop without running out of breath and a perfect block with a riposte or a dodge with a counter does not break up the combo's the ai attacks me with. they just carry on with the combo like nothing happend. half the time they block my riposte and caryy on swinging away as if i was not even there

Game is so easy - just max out Alchemy then use potions - you can max out alchemy just around the first village, hardcore mode will be the way to play.

of course, the game is way to easy. just do this and then u are unbeatable. u know how many times i have heard that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over the past 20 years? most cases its bull sht lies. not saying thats what u are doing but i have heard so many times all u have to do is X and then the game is super easy. i am sorry, making potions for some short lived buffs and then the game is to easy just does not pass the smell test. in the first one i did not have the problems with combat like i do with this game. combat is jacked up. the guy i have to fight are wearing plate armor that is not even available to me yet and they don't appear to have a need to manage stamina like the player has to. they can do a 6 swing combo without missing a beat. and my perfect block with a riposte or a dodge with a counter does not even break up their combo attacks. in fact half the time they block my riposte and counter attack and carry on with a 6 swing combo like i don't even have a weapon. sorry bro leveling alchemy is not going to suddenly take the player to some new level of kicking ass. maybe that worked for u but i have some doubts. i am not trying to be a jerk either, i am just basing that on the experience i am having. if i did not have to worry about stamina and had the same armor and weapons available to the ai and if i had 4 to 6 guys to jump one dude then the game would be fair at that point. as it stands the combat is jacked up compared to the first game

For the Tomcat fight go to the vendor in the Nomad camp and buy the poison. Put it on your sword and then hit him once or twice then just defend yourself. The poison will weaken him enough to end the fight and then you'll get to learn the master strike, which makes combat 100x easier. Definitely agree there is a learning gap though. (Keep going game gets SO GOOD so fast)
Thanks for the tip, I'll try it. Imma be honest, at some point I was thinking about cheating, glad I didn't go through with it because that would make playing this game pointless
who is Imma?

Just hard?

I'm thinking of playing this game so I'm curious.

not just hard, its unfair, and the AI cheats and has weapons and armor not available to the player and 4 to 6 dudes using ♥♥♥♥ u can't attack u all at once and don't have to manage stamina like the player has to do and can attack unlimited without stopping. meanwhile u swing twice and u have no stamina left and then 6 dudes start t'ing off on u and u can't do ♥♥♥♥ about it
in the first game after master strike the game become ultra easy, this u need to use brain

Some people are disability or handicapped intelligence or limited due health issues, it's not always skill issues, some can't learn skill due because disability or limited intelligence or handicapped body movement.

Some people might find easy, but it's not meant easy for everyone guarantee.

I am zhit at the combat but one thing brings me success, and that is taking my time. If you rush in spamming the attack button you have already lost.
Block and wait for your chance. If you miss stop attacking. If you gain a hit then hit them again until you miss or stamina runs low. Doing this wins me most fights.
i win the fights, but i feel stupid because i dont know how to do the mainquest im already stuck 100% confused with the marriage.
