It is objectively a good thing. Here is why:

You can do the same for the opposite.

It helps you vote with your wallet and it prevents you from large corporations scamming you into buying their ♥♥♥♥ by marketing etc.

It's not extremism. It's being fed up by the lack of power your single vote has.
You can call it a strike. A demonstration. A protest. It's not extremism, it's people having enough of that bs and wanting their entertainment back.


Just imagine you do hard work all day complying with your employers ridiculous rules and whatnot feed your family and children you come home to play some video games or watch some movies and all you get is being lectured about your morals and politics and getting force fed corpo speak with no choice to avoid it that you heard all day during work. Or even worse, being treated like a 5 year old in the game during that.

That's what many games do. I am not saying KCD2 does, KCD2 is on the very bottom of that spectrum, it's barely woke for the majority of the game aside from that Hans Capons Character changed since the first game and came across kind of like a weakling and like he likes Henry a little bit too much eversince he left us after the brawl in the inn at the beginning.

One thing sticks out in the absurd amount of "anti-woke" posts across a great many steam forums I have been on. There is this idea that games must be apolitical entertainment and nothing more. That games are somehow exempt from the same artistic decision making process that one finds in television, film, books, and music. I hate to break it to you but games are not special in that regard. Any time you get an artist or even a bunch of artists across many different artistic disciplines to work on a entertainment media project, you are going to get some kind of socio-political messaging of some kind. Heck. The most famous, most revered films, books, TV shows, and albums all have some kind of political or social content that no doubt made someone very angry.

So is the issue here the fact that your precious entertainment leisure time is being attacked by a political ideology the problem or is it that you have decided to feel attacked by a DIFFERENT socio-political message than your own?

Let's reframe this a bit. Imagine that you are at some kind of hypothetical party with your friends, significant other, or whatever. You are there with a drink in your hand just having a generally good time and suddenly someone comes through the door with a T-shirt that has some kind of political message on it that you don't agree with. Do you get upset? Do you leave the house in a quite huff and then complain to people about how that person "shoved their ideology down your throat" (or something to that effect) later the next day?

I would hope not. I would hope you can understand that others have their own socio-political compass and their own beliefs. I would hope that you can understand that when you are in a party or even a public place during your leisure time, you might actually have to be around that kind of thing and that it being there doesn't actually make it some kind of attack on you or your precious ideology.

Like a lot of other forms of media, game developers and even some in the audience had to fight pretty hard to get games recognized as art and not just entertainment content. We don't get to pretend that games are not art when suddenly there is a message we don't agree with. That isn't how any of this works and anyone with any wisdom would know that.

Name one game that pushes right wing socio political message.

In an equivalently invasive way as the woke does.

I've been here watching the reaction against the people trying to get the message out there about DEI and wokeism and people are just displeased and not happy.
