Question about Pickpocketing
How does pickpocket actually work?

I was practicing with Hensel, and when I initially started and my skill was <10, I was often able to rummage through his pockets for 6-7 seconds reliably.

However, a few minutes into practice, when my skill was 12 and higher, I notice I am immediately caught the moment I press Rob on him; with the countdown wheel not even appearing. I fail before I even step over the starting line. But other times I can rob him just fine. 2/3 times I am instantly caught, the other 1 times I pickpocket him no problem.

Why do I fail more when my skill level is higher? What causes you to fail outright?

I tried with different armors, full plate, thief outfit, but they didn't seem to have any effect on whether or not I was caught instantly.

Bump, to see if anyone knows
He's just supposed to be a character to practice on, same with the chest behind him.

I'm guessing at a certain level it fails since you've practiced enough, had the same but now any other NPC works fine.

Time to put the practice to use on npcs
Yeah it just gets hard to pick pocket him after a while. you can still do it, pausing for a while then try again, but it will only work like once b4 u need to pause again etc. Run on thieving sprees at night and save after a few succelsful picks, both locks and pockets. Early on I followed those strong patrolling bandits by sneaking at night. Leveled both stealth and agility by like 10 in just 15 minutes or so.
click the ting to up the timer. and then pick only one thing at a time and get back to the door.
you get experience only for the first item.
so if you wanna level up pick 1 item at a time. and keep doing it till you get max lvl.

if you can craft yourself a henry'fox potion for the XP boost.
