Horse stats dropping?
I did a lot of questing before progressing the main quest, including completing both the blacksmith and miller questlines, and all the sidequests I could find apart from Gules, since I did the miller questline the very last and so I had to wait for it.

Getting to the point, since I already earned a lot and got my skills pretty high, I already stole a 2300 and something groschen horse with a speed stat of 46, but after completing the wedding quest, and saving Hans from the gallows, the speed stat appears to have dropped to 36, and the value to 1960 groschen.

Is this normal or a bug? Is there something I should be doing to maintain my horses stats?

Everything is a bug with you people :steamfacepalm:

Go wash your horse.
Check your equipment on the horse. A lot of equipment lower the speeds stat of the horse. If you want a fast horse it may be better to take some of the equipment off.
Saddle and torso items will trade carry capacity and protection for speed. Bridles influence speed too.

Horseshoes increase speed.
Farmer < Knight < Noble < Lovarian

My (good old) Pebbles has 59 speed with
Bridle of the Holy Roman Empire
Prague Saddle
Lovarian Horseshoes

If I change the Bridle for a Dragon Chanfron and add a quilted Tournament caparison, Speed drops to 43. Add a heavy saddle and you're quickly at the low end of 30.

Thank you! I guess I did add a caparison a little while before I started the mission, seems strange that the gear would lower the horses value though
I'll try washing my horse too, because I did not change my tack on her, yet the stats drop from one day to the next. Tack doesn't need repair either.
You need to wash your horse and maintain your saddle
