Should I keep Toledo sword instead of giving to blacksmith?
I thought about keeping it cause I can still get into the wedding with Kreyzl's help.

depends, there is a bug that makes you unable to remake a sword of same level but there are better swords. To be fair im sure if you just never hand it over the blacksmith wont know that you finished the sword XD

That's what I'm thinking, just not handing it over. Then getting into the wedding with Kreyzl.
I don't think there are any downsides to not turning it in, you mostly just get a verbal pat on the back for turning it in and ofc be allowed into the wedding and it will be your best sword for another few hours. But I've never done this so I don't know if the quest will fail if you complete the wedding before turning it in.

Turning it in did give me a boost in survival and craftsmanship, but I can get that in lots of other places. I think getting in with Kreyzl's scheme is more interesting.

Why would you want to keep it? It's locked at Lv 3 Quality (or IU just fed up more than I thought) and has the same stats as a common longsword, which actually can get M level quality, and thus exceed it's max stats.

Cause it's better than the Basilard I'm currently using. I don't have all the fancy late-game gear like you do.

Aehm, the common longsword is by no means a late game item, and neither is the perk allowing you to make Lv 4 Equipment. In fact, both is easily achievable before you even make the Toledo sword.

Radovan sells the blueprint, the butrcher in troskovitch the animal skin, and other things can either be gotten from Radovan or the Troskovitz trader.
The Basilard on the other hand is the actual late game item. If you have that in the first area, it means you came across a treasure with the blueprint in it. - Or somehow found the sword itself.
In that case, your basilard is weaker because of it's item lv, not because of it's stats:

Game measures the crafting codex by Lv 3 stats:
Basilard:
141 Slash, 133.9 Stab 21.2 Blunt. 198 Defense

Common Longsword/Hermit's Sword (=Toledo steel sword)
126 Slash, 132.3 Stab 25.2 Blunt; 194 def

So, if you forge a common longsword, while having the martin trait, you end up with a better one than with the Hermit sword, as the latter can't get Martin quality.
(Razor-Sharpened stats for M quality: 151slash, 158 Stab, 29 Blunt

It should also be noted that the basilard is a shortsowrd, while the Hermit sword is a longsword, meaning you can use the Basilard with a shield without getting penalties and needing the trait.

Tl;dr With lv 16 crafting the common longsword is better than the Hermit Sword. To get to lv 16, all you have to do is repeatedly damage (not to 0 ) and then sharpen your sword. You can damage it by deliberately screwing up the sharpening process. Also always repair your gear yourself using kits, instead of letting craftsmen repair them.

If you wait until after the wedding, you will have to go to Nomads Camp swordmaster to show the sword to him as a part of a wager between him and the blacksmith. Completing the quest you will lose the sword but it’s very easy to pickpocket the sword back from his pocket after completion. :)
I ended up with some cool next area gear so far by robbing the soldier convoy random encounter, they have nobles belt, a gun, basilard, it's like they're transporting late game stuff through the first area 😆
But yeah, as cool as the Toledo sword is, Ive got Martin's crafting perk from playing normally doing side stuff, can make tier 4 weapons, and I haven't gone to the wedding yet
An old thread, but to make things clear, there is no use of keeping the quest sword as it's mid.
Get yourself a better sword unless you haven't already - on the first map, yes.

There's also a blueprint for the Common Longsword sitting in on a shelf in the Troskowitz Rathaus, the scribe sits in a position where he can't see you so it's incredibly easy to steal.
No. Its stats are crap, even for Trosky region.
