So I went the sneaky route, aimed to do unarmed and bow and stealth and stuff. My main grips is that even if we sneak around without being seen and steal stuff successfully and put it in a locker that we get a bad reputation and guards will shake us down and take stuff that's not even on us. Also I'd hate to be trying to play a "good" character because you can't tell whether you're opening a door to a shop or breaking into someone's house. I even just wandered into a courtyard of some place and was immediately flagged and chased. I wasn't even within 5m of a house...

Another thing that really irked me was I was just exploring on my way to find Mutt, there were some people ahead but no idea if they were just hunters or enemies. Apparently they saw me even though I was in the bushes and they took up chase. I had my travelling outfit on so lots of speed and I have reasonable stamina. They were all wearing heavy armour and carrying shields. I ran until my stamina ran out and they still caught me and basically hit me as I was running. 3 hits and I was down. Why should they not tire? Why would they keep pace with me when running with a shield and weapons drawn? It really turned me off the game :(

1/ Bro, a stranger walks into your village, and the next day folks report that their stuff got stolen. What do you think?

2/ Did you skip KCD 1?

never played KCD1

If I pinch something from a building and NO ONE is around, but I run into a guard 30 seconds later it's a bit silly that they'd know something has gone missing, and that it was me. No one has been into the room to know it's missing, yet the guard magically knows? Just ruins the experience of playing a sneaky character tbh.

Seems like bad luck. If you let doors open or Items on Tables are missing, the NPC's will search if more got missing. At the same time they will be loud for other ppl to hear.

If you where seen before or after near the house you will be suspected.
im no expert in this game but did not have any problems stealing or being discovered yet.
example i close the door behind me when i enter a house, and i make sure i am not seen from windows ect. and i sneak around.
But els i wait until night time then almost all people are sleeping, but be aware of dogs and it can be a good idea to find a pig around the city and kill it and then drop some meat on the ground. when the dog comes it will eat it and be quiet.
ofcourse remember to wear some clothing that dosent make allot of noice.
So you need to pay attention to your visibility score/skill and you might want to get some skills that help you as well. example some of them help with lock picking, other with visibilty and so on.
Another great thing is to steal from people who sleep. You can find keys in their pockets and other stuff that make your life more easy.. The same goes with guards in the daytime where you can get keys from their pockets, tis a big help.
ps. be aware its illegal in the game world to walk around at night without a torch and if the guards see this you get into trouble.
People are too used to modern rpg´s and Bethesdas pseudo rpg where you can literally steal everything often times in plain sight of people without any consequences.

KCD is different. You have to be smart and don´t let anyone see you doing crimes and also avoid stealing in locations where you frequently are to trade ect.

Don´t forget, you are a stranger there and thus the first one to suspect when stuff goes missing.

If you still want to steal there go away for a few days and then sneak in during nighttime and don´t let anyone see or hear you, close doors behind you so you guards won´t notice that you broke in a house, steal and then gtf out again. If you do it well noone will know it was you.

Latest annoyance: I killed 6 bandits and "stole" a horse from them. Riding it to another location further south and I pass a crossroads where 3 villagers call me to stop - I gave them a wide berth but the horse bucked me off and then all the villagers attacked me. No explanation why. I'm guessing that it's the horse? I mean how do they even know, and why would anyone care if I stole one from a bandit ffs?

bandits dont have horses. you stole a horse from their victim.

How am I supposed to know that? Why did they just go straight to violence? Maybe I was returning their horse? Just felt really jarring for that reaction.

I'm noticing a trend that there's a lot of ipad lickers who picked up this game and expect the entire thing to just hold their hand and always be in their favor. I guess being coddled and handed everything their entire life isn't working out this time for them.
