isn't bad just heavily outdated.
i love the first one but i'd be hard pressed to play it right now after experiencing the new one.
(Do not watch the 5-hour cutscene video to try to learn the story. The cutscenes have no context, and it includes variants on individual scenes back-to-back. It's for people who played enough of KCD1 to know what triggers the scenes.)
I have to recommend taking your time as well. There's a lot of content in the game, and for the most part they really can add to the understanding of the assumptions of the culture you're a part of.
1- The first game is AWESOME!!!
2- You won't be lost in the lore as to who are the main characters and lore is important for the optimal result in choices you'll make (resume: knowledge = vantage and quality of life)
3- Combat in the first game is easier to learn than in the second game and you'll need to learn combat as soon as possible in the second game so it'll be better for your sanity to play the KCD I first.
Honestly? you really should play the first game. It will make the second game so much better in every way.
