Has KCD2 alienated the original fan base?

From an non-scientific guesstimate, I'd say about 40-50% of the original fan base don't like the direction KCD2 has taken.

It clearly is aimed at a younger audience, and the Devs hope that lost sales from the original fan base will be made up by new sales from a different demographic.

I don't really see how... It's been a few years since I played the original, but launching KCD2 the game immediately felt familiar.

KCD2 is largely much better than KCD1. Only things I've noticed that KCD1 does better are smaller nitpicks. IE: The roads in KCD1 IMO look better than in KCD2

I bought first game 2 times (on pc and ps). This one im gonna skip, and I put this developer on my black list.

Love this one more than KCD 1. And I was a backer on Kickstarter for KCD 1. So I think that makes me one of the "originals" personally I just see the same people complaining, mostly about stuff that doesn't matter.

I think most who've played the first enjoys this one much more.

All that unnecessary drama in the story, fewer quest playthrough options, oversimplification, and other stuff make the game worse, but I'm not sure it is made for a younger audience - more likely just for casual gamers, who like Skyrim and similar pop-action RPGs

KCD1 was a masterpiece. Not another one "good game". Hence no - KCD2 is a bad sequel.

KCD1 is better in the quest polivariativity, has a better story in general, harder combat mechanics, e.t.c. By most chances, we have played different KCD1 XD

I feel a little bit alienated but overall it's the same game.
Not nearly the same change of direction as most sequels do.

Let's say I like KCD2 but it makes me worried about KCD3

First game was the true game of the year due to politics they didnt get it, Monster Hunter which is an action game NOT RPG got the price, and yet again they made a gem, which also is a game of the year contender. Its my game of the year for sure.

Only if they feel threatened or offended by a video game, then sure.

But that's just casting off dead weight.

They can always go back to KCD1 if they need some sort of safe space or something.
