Eventually you'll be a better Smith.
This and axe heads are the way, imo. With a good rhythm and striking pattern, one can easily crap out an M tier bearded axe before having to reheat.
You'll just have to repair it more often, well :)
If the HP one, that is an indocator of the sharpnes of the Blade at that Moment which after a fresh forging is natutally still Blunt. You need to use a Grindwheel or smithing Kit. Like with ALL weapons you craft.
I was simply surprised by this small number, in contrast to, for example, cheap hunting cleavers, and I wanted to know if it was the same for everyone (especially since I forged this axe with the highest quality - the "Jindřich-Martin" mark).
I think devs "simulated" the fragility of a wooden shaft thus. Probably).
EDIT: I crafted a lvl 4 one and even then the poleaxe breaks down halfway through the duel, it even degraded just now. That is a bit ridiculous.
They are at least better than pole arms in the first game.
I can't say about the simple polearms, I haven't used it yet. I don't know what advice I can give here - except to repair after each battle, just like me, for example).
