Not arguing that it's definitely a bad design choice though, because obviously the player is always going to want the gear with the best stats, so they're just going to re-equip the gear that got removed, because that's what has the best stats. I'm not going to give a second glance to a 4th shirt when I already have one with higher defense, one with higher charisma and one with higher stealth, when these are the only 3 stats that matter in clothing choices.
And I know they didn't play test cause this is the type of thing that would have sat in the back of devs head and bugged the hell outta them. Same with the never ending list of scripting errors, triggers hitting in the wrong order, and soft locks. All of that reminds players that they are players, not participants in a story. Not wise if you want them to appreciate the story.
