Questions about Materia Prima.

I'm getting close to the point where I'm ready to progress the game beyond the first map by heading to the wedding. I'm using the blacksmith route but I'm unsure if I should leave the miller hanging on his Chinese fireworks recipes since I don't know if he's doing this for my side or Sigismand. I'm also debating being a spy for the bailiff.
What I want to do is move forward with the blacksmith and just keep the recipes for myself and hope there will be an option later to use them for my side.
I really hope the Devs put that in as an option because its the one I'd choose if this were reality and I was really in the position my Henry is right now.
