Combat is utter trash
So I thoroughly enjoed KCD1 combat to the point once i got used to it it was a relatively nice challnege. 2 however is straight poop, enemy targeting is wonky. They counter EVERY swing you through at them have unlimited stamina. Henrys stamina depletes in like 2 swings. I feel it was more fluid in 1 or am I wrong? And I show a crossbow right at a dudes head. had no helmet armor on and didnt kill him. doing a perfect block and riposte DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. they still counter anyways. Like wtf is this ♥♥♥♥.

Train your skills, the tutorial says go train with tomcat, hes perfect to train Henry’s stats early on :suzuko1:
Im currently doing that and thats not even the problem, You cant even get the combos off unless you disarm them half the time. Also the targeting is just bad. like how i can miss someone whos legit right in front of me with full stamina and well within range?
An easy way to win against one. Wait for the attack, dodge to the side, one attack from above. RInse and repeat. As long you dont attack on your own, the enemy will behave.
And try to poisen your weapons. Bolts and arrows are the better choice.
You need to learn Master Strike with Tomcat. Enemies don't have unlimited stamina, they stand there for most of the fight honestly. Perks will help combat, the game wants you to chain together combos, practice that, fake the enemy out by switching your angle of attack at the last second to begin striking them. Enemies with shields are tough, but when I'm fighting them and think it's tough, I imagine what it would be like looking at the battle from their POV. They'd probably be just as frustrated fighting Henry

As for the bows, you are right, it's absolute garage head shots are no longer lethal.

It's all about perspective. Is it clunky and slow? Yes, it flows about as good as frozen molasses. It is not necessarily bad though. It is juuuuuuust slooooooow, and that is not to everyone's taste. Even s
Shadiversity makes fun of how weird it is, though they do also praise it for being as close to hema or whatever as a game can get.

But KDC1 Combat was - Press Q (on M&KB) for Master Strike and if you are Fancy do a overhead Bumb at max. to win EVERYTHING.

KDC2 gives you options. Master Strikes are now Skillbased (Playerskill). You need to get the correct Angle to Attack (so that you dont get Master Strikes to your face AND to land Master Strikes yourself) while you can now use Feints WITHOUT the RNG option to get Master Stikes to your face...

You can now really USE Combo's and normal Parry has a use, if you dont get in the correct Angle to Master Strike the enemies attack, you can simply Parry/Hit or just Parry and adjust the Angle...

Overall the System went from Boring 1-Klicker to somewhat interactiv 6/10 or 7/10 Combat (it was a 1/10 in KDC1 as soon as you learn Master Strikes).
Master Strike is a must, and you need to learn your positioning also as the enemies AI now is really good with parry. Combat is more tactical than the first one, and combat and weapon skills now really matters to min-maxing your combat style.

I think current combat meta favors Swords more than Mace just from the fact that now Master Strikes can only be used by Swords in KCD2. CMIIW
Interesting Ill have to rethink fights now.
the combat feels much easier and less satisfying than KCD1 that's for sure. Hopefully it's better on hardcore mode
The combat all feels like quick time events to me.
the combat is easier than KCD1 , significantly , if you put poison that drains stamina on your weapon ,enemies loose the ability to block every blow. You have always more stamina than them.

Also notice that Henry can parry without stamina as well, so you're given grace points as enemies do.
