Bug that prevents you from haggling.
I noticed recently I cannot hold X to haggle anymore, something is up with the input now.

Having the same issue. Playing on my steam deck.
OK, just loaded up to try, it is still working for me. Did you try restarting the game?
If you fail to haggle during the minigame they will say they are done haggling and will have a cooldown before they can be haggled again.

No it was a first time with a new merchant in Kuttenberg region as I go around selling excess gear I hoarded.

The option is there I can even mouse click hold and instead of triggering it, it just outright completes transaction.

If you insult the merchants with a rediculous offer they will not haggle with you. That will disable the option for that sale. I assume if you really piss them off or have very low standing in the community, the same thing will apply over a broader range.

Nope and nope.

I know KCD mechanics better than you and if haggling is disabled it will outright be blackened but it's not. I also can easily tell it's a bug because at times the reference and values for things are misplaced or coded wrong because they copy and pasted stuff for generic blacksmith NPCs in kuttenberg. It's very likely that the blacksmith in the Sudoul town is bugged, not the other ones though since interactions goes through their script files, and perhaps they ended up putting 'finish transaction' as part of haggle.

I mean I had to mod the game to fix the Knight's Sword recipe bug where you don't get the recipe for using said item you buy, because the devs completely forgot to include the reference to it.

You'd be surprised how similar the DB and XML data system is similar to Bethesda games, with the use of reference IDs and such, that there is so many entry to maintain that the devs might overlook some.

Tried it again now with a new instance of the game at this merchant, and sure enough he doesn't haggle at all. Even the one at the castle doesn't.

Now I gotta go to other merchants elsewhere to see if this is exclusive to blacksmiths, or if all haggling got disabled.

UPDATE: I went to a trader in another town to sell food and the haggle works. It's Suchdol that's bugged.
