Getting my a$$ beat in the second region??
title. did not play the first kcd, but figured out the combat pretty fast. master strike and all that, I destroyed basically every enemy in seconds, but now I went into the second region and immediately picked a fight with some guards (as you do) and holy hell I am getting violated.

they ALL have master strike, and they all combo three hits in my face without any chance for blocking, they block everything, and for SOME reason they tank literally 20 hits from my longsword while I go down in three. what the hell?

so right now the only thing to do for me is literally wait and wait until they make a move, then counter with master strike, rinse repeat. and oh boy are they taking their sweet time attacking, they stand there without making a move for 30 seconds solid. clinching also works like 20% of the time at best.

what am I doing wrong? are the guys in the second region just stronger by default and I have to level up first? or do I need another weapon since long sword doesnt seem to do much against full plate armor?

Didn't experience that, sure enemies are tougher but not that much
But I went on the second map pretty late, was already level 20some, with plate armor and a Reforged sword, abusing Bane poisoned arrows as well...
You aren't doing anything wrong, just level up. On the second map you'll find much better armor, if you have the money just buy it from Kuttenberg (or steal it during the night). Reforged Radzig Kobyla's sword remains the best weapon in game. Probably you know it but you can put poison on your melee weapon.

Yes the second map is much higher level, enemies have for the mot part full plate armor and that's a game changer, they're also much better fighters.
If you beelined for the main quest in the first map you'll be underleveled and will have to take some time to train and get better equipment if you don't already have the best that can be found.

I would say that if you are good at combat, I mean you personally good at timing hits and managing to do combos then you would probably be fine at around level 20+ and I mean by that not just sword and warfare but also strength, agility and vitality.
But that also depends on your equipment. And as for swords I would say that probably despite the longsword dealing more damage than the shortsword the latter might be better overall just because it's so much faster. It's also the case that in the first map because there was no decent longsword most of us used the shortsword and because of that we got used to the rhythm of it. Longsword is more powerful and has more range but is slower so some muscle memory might need to be re-learned.

Yep, when doing the duels in Kattnburg, I wouldn't have made it without Dollmaker on the sword. When dealing with bandits, I avoid them, if not, I use the dog, I even use my horse to block their movement so I only have to deal with one at a time. Even then, if there are 3 bandits, I'm lucky to exit the encounter with 20% of my health left.

Potions at second Map are your friend and Posion first time i ever use that pretty helpful the dog for my opinion runs too often into my attacks

Dollmaker arrows are great if you can't be bothered sword fighting. One hit and they can't run so you can keep retreating as needed and hit every enemy. Combine that with bane arrows or the wind up crossbow that does 600 damage and you could defeat the whole of Kuttenberg. It's actually too easy compared to the 1st game.
Make sure you're wearing plenty of armor. It makes the biggest difference. If I'm wearing my stealth outfit and have to fight a bunch of people at once, it's much more difficult

Second Map do make enemies stronger, so you had to get best of best armor as you can get, get best weapon, if all fail, use bow and arrow to kill them if you unable to do master combat.
