what's the point of savior schnapps when there's save & quit?
i mean you can always s&q before doing anything risky, then restart and if you fail do it again. usually s&q in games is supposed to either be a continuous single save (e.g. like in elden ring), or it should be deleted after loading. but the way it works it's basically a quicksave, just with slower loading.
don't get me wrong, it's great that they have s&q (i don't think kcd1 had it?) and it works that way (i use unlimited save anyway), it just seems schnapps saving is an atavism now and they haven't removed mostly because that would have looked like they "caved in".

This is what happens when players complain about every single element of the game.
This didn't exist at the beginning of KCD1 and was introduced as a kind of compromise to stop the whining.
It's a compromise, I think, between the fact that the devs don't like saving without schnapps, but the fact that the most downloaded mod for KCD - 1.5 million times - is the "Unlimited saving" mod - and there are other mods that include saving.

It's the choice between an instant save and play versus quitting the game and wait for it to load again. I respect the dev's decisions and use SS unless I'm exiting the game.
Save and quit (and save and sleep, though more situational) can be annoying to use, and you only get one (or two if you are near your bed)
I can save and quit and schnappsarino to get more than one (or more than two).

Save & Quit is nice on Console as it just takes you back to the Main Menu.
But on PC it quits the Game back to Desktop.
Waiting for Steam to sync the Savefile, booting up the Game & loading into my Save takes about 2min total.
Where it takes me ~90s to brew 6 Saviour Schnapps which means that every 2min I spend brewing will save me 10min of "Save & Quit".
(6x Saviour Schnapps = 6x Saving = 6x Save & Quit = 6x 2min Boot-Time = 12min. Boot-Time. 12min minus the 2min it takes to brew the 6 Saviour Schnapps = 10min of Time saved.)
well my point is it's barely different from quicksave, only slightly more annoying. and schnapps is not easily available in the early game, which is the hardest part. so it makes it even more front-loaded.

It is available in abundance early on.
You can get tons of Belladonna & Nettle at Bozhena's Place and brew like ~30 Saviour Schnapps which should last for like at least 10-15h of Playtime.

To the South of Tachov is a Forest loaded with Belladonna and Nettle.
I got ~160 Belladonna & ~200 Nettle in about 10min of picking Herbs.
Those would make ~960 Saviour Schnapps.
More than you'll ever need in the Game. Especially when the Game has tons of Auto-Saves.

EDIT: You can also buy Saviour Schnapps from nearly every Merchant and Trader in the Game for like 10 Groschen each.

Well, not everyone has the time to sit through the game and play it out as it was meant to be played

Of course you can cheat through the game in a way by using the "Save&Quit"§ option - but why should I bother?

I mean, honestly, I love to 100% games for the achievements which are for my own - if someone else does it, I don't care. If someone cheats through it, I don't care either. Their problem

Really none of my business. If I wanted to I could script up ♥♥♥♥ to achieve certain things - I mean, any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with a programmable keyboard can do so these days.

For instance, I could script a horse to run in circles while I go asleep, what fun is that though? It's cheating.

Bottom line, I wouldn't bother, it's an SP game and if they have their jerk-offs while cheating, let them have it - I have my own fun finding new challenges

True that. xD

Here is the thing:
You fixed something that was never a issue and now you are giving yourself a pat on the back.

First of all, KCD1 has save and quit. It was never added because they caved in. It was added because people have things to do, so instead of spending time rushing to the nearest inn, you can just save and quit, go do your own thing.
Second, KCD2 made savior schnapps better. Why? Because alchemy is better. We have 2 higher tier of a potion. One being strong potion and another being Henry potion.
They give a buff. Meaning everytime I save, I get a buff. This buff helpful from early to late game cause who doesn't like buff in a rpg game?
Secondly, savior schnapps is also an alcohol meaning you level up drinking too.
Thirdly, even if you don't wanna use alchemy to make potions, you can at least buy potions, right? Cause let's be real. What even is there to spend money on?

Anyway, Warhorse wants you to use mods to make your experience better. It's not because their idea of the game is any way weaker than a simple mod. I added an armor mod today.
Does that mean the armors in the game are not good? Of course not. But for me, one of the best fun in a rpg game is fashion after a while.

Now, this is a different thing. If you don't know something, just ask in the forum or even youtube or reddit. But don't give wrong info with such confidence.
There is actually a great place between Tachov and Troskowitz which has insane amount of Belladona and Nettle and I take less than two minutes to make multiple 3-6 savior schnapps depending on what perks I have.

Not true. You get the recipe for free right from the get go and all you have to do is collect plants and brew a bunch of savior schnapps.

Sounds more like you are just too lazy to brew it even though it is so easy to do and only takes a few minutes.
The thing is you start with the Alchemical recipe. My only argument against the idea that you can make the recipe in this game is that you can't fast grind level 10 to autobrew.
If you don't want then type cheat code to free save
Because the main idea of schnapps is to make your decisions matter. Schnapps makes saves valuable asset - you need to buy/brew it and it eats inventory space. Q&S makes you suffer through constant reloads, hence you still need to make wise decisions in the game.
Brewing up a save game potion isnt exactly the most onerous thing in the game, and to be honest its a pretty cost efficient measure compared to the time and effort to reload and play back to the stuff up point.
