KCD2 Won't Launch After Patch / Steam Update

I've updated both the game and Steam version and now KCDII won't load up at all. Anyone else come across this? I've tried resetting. Any help would be much appreciated!

Same here, I hope they will fix this infinite loading screen problem

I also can't load the game on Steam Deck since the patch. After I click play, it shows the spin loading symbol for a brief second and then never launches. Really sucks, hope this gets fixed

got a gold edition yesterday and got stuck with the same problem. tried EVERYTHING from checking files to restarting pc and steam... nothing worked. yet found a solution. note that it worked on PC and just with the very first cutscene where you play as boguta: lowered graphics at medium (you can set at low to see if it will be even faster), turned off anti-aliasing, played in a windowed mode. after that EVERYTHING worked fine, I've even changed the settings to ultra and with aa on and the rest of the game went smooth. hope this might be a solution to someone as well, but tbh it's the first time I've seen such an interesting bug that wasn't made by mods or changing configs but just being a result of an update...

I know this may not be the end all for everyone but when my modded games crashed hard and refused to open or run the game I had to manually go into my files and delete all files outside of my saves. Uninstalling the game will not get rid of configuration files which may be causing the issues. It needs a "Hard Fresh" install. A soft delete is doing an uninstall from steam which only deletes the game files. Not saves, mods, configurations, changes to any item files or modifications steam doesn't recognize as the main file.

I am not saying you have modded game files I am saying this is a way to get a full fresh reinstall

I fixed my issue! Went to the game settings in steam and deleted the text that was in the launch settings. I had used decky loader that forced frame gen, and I guess it added a some launch settings, but works fine now. This pertained to the issue game not booting up at all. I also uninstalled decky loader since I don't need it, and FSR 3.1 is now in the game so it has native frame gen

You would be surprised how often people have told me they deleted the mods or removed them via vortex and yet still sat there with destroyed files. Not everyone knows that reinstalling a game or verifying files doesn't get ALL files.

To be honest when I first started out messing with files it took me a long time to realize that myself. Mod loaders are a useful tool but manually installing mods teaches you everything XD

I never used mods. And my experience is absolutely stellar. Sorry fam, you messed with your game and you deserve it. Get rekt
