Master Strike Bugged?

I am currently trying to learn the master strike from Tomcat. I'm locked in the thrust position, and he is repeatedly performing overhead strikes. However, no matter how fast I click the attack button after the shield pops up, Henry will not perform a master strike.

I've been at it for a good 15-20 minutes now, just repeatedly trying to get that master strike to fire off, but it doesn't seem to want to work. I've tried perfect blocking, since some Reddit posts suggested doing a perfect block at the start of combat due to some sort of bug, but that hasn't resolved it either.

At a loss on what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

You ever found a solution to this? Kinda stuck here. Seems like a more or less rare bug though there are lot of problems with this tutorial, most people seem to get stuck a bit later

Is your weapon in the right position? You need to be in opposite stance. I kinda skipped master strike this game, sometimes i do it by mistake. Riposte is just safer, since by not blocking you will get hit everytime your weapon is not in the correct position

Just keep at it, it's sort of hit or miss it seems. Make sure that you follow the steps like this:
Up, Right. IMMEDIATELY hit button or left mouse again without moving the target to left position, and then using the directional and space keys together dodge the last step, That dodge did it for me. Took me a long time to get it right though. Hope that helps.
