The patch is terrible all around, reverting back to previous version untill they fix it
This Game is amazing and I was really enjoying it!
I am still at a loss why they would hard code keys that were not hard coded before!
??
If you're savvy enough, you can edit the file at "%userprofile%\Saved Games\kingdomcome2\profiles\default\attributes.xml" to set those actions back to only using the standard number keys, instead of those and the numpad keys.
You'll have to update the Attr node with name="keybinds_settings".
As an example, below is what I added to set the Quick Chat and Quick Action Menu controls back to only using the standard number keys. You can copy/paste the below as-is near the end of the "keybind_settings" line, immediately before "</keybinds> " to do the same. I'd say make a backup of the attributes.xml before you go meddling with it, in case you bork something.
<superaction name="chat_first" controller="keyboard"> <control input="1" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="chat_second" controller="keyboard"> <control input="2" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="chat_third" controller="keyboard"> <control input="3" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="chat_fourth" controller="keyboard"> <control input="4" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="qam_1" controller="keyboard"> <control input="1" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="qam_2" controller="keyboard"> <control input="2" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="qam_3" controller="keyboard"> <control input="3" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="qam_4" controller="keyboard"> <control input="4" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="qam_5" controller="keyboard"> <control input="5" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="qam_6" controller="keyboard"> <control input="6" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="qam_7" controller="keyboard"> <control input="7" slot="0" /> </superaction> <superaction name="qam_8" controller="keyboard"> <control input="8" slot="0" /> </superaction>
This weekend, the Wife is away for 2 days and it would have been the perfect time to spend some quality time in KCD2! :p
Now, I feel less inclined to play, so I guess I'll have to do Housework and other chores in the real world!
Hehe! :D
(Happy Wife = Happy Life!?)
Seriously though, no idea why they thought hard coding keys is a good idea... :(
I felt bad for poor Mutt. I have petting him mapped to numpad1, so I got right in his face and then drew my sword on him. :,-(
I don't get on with Controllers & my preference is Keyboard and Mouse.
As I am left handed, I use the arrow keys and numpad.
Happy to explain it for you Elven Arrow.
Patch 1.2.1 didn't fix the Hard Coded issue...
I use a 60% keyboard and an mmo mouse. I map the mouse side buttons to the numpad keys, precisely because my keyboard doesn't even have them and it feels natural to my brain.
mouse1=numpad1
mouse5=numpad5
etc
please undo this crap!

are u left handed??
Honestly... it's worse.
It's a terrible, horrific design.
As for me, I have NumPad bound to my mouse thumb buttons. I use DFGV cuz WASD is stupid, but that's a whole other thing. I usually rebind EVERYTHING. The whole entire point of a good keybind config is that you should be able to use your movement keys *AND* be able to use a key that you need to use while moving. My pinky is free to use 10-15 keys on the far left of the keyboard, and I have another half dozen on the side of my mouse (in addition to the 3 standard mouse buttons).
Interact, consume, draw weapon, sheath weapon, chat, lower visor, and a dozen other things SHOULD be doable while moving (most of those you don't usually need, but it's better to have the option). So many games that I play with friends, I see them STOP moving in order to do something. Cuz they use default keybinding configs. Which means they have to move their entire hand.
That's terrible design.
But we've been stuck w/ it for 30 years since Quake 2 formalized WASD because of one person's terrible preference.
That being said... FORCING us to NOT be able to use dozens of keys (yes, it is multiple dozens at this point) is TERRIBLE.
This is an amazing game and I love it and I'm 150 hours in. But this UX design is beyond offensive. I would LOVE to ask the person who was ultimately responsible for this decision why they, seemingly, had absolutely no variety in their game testers in terms of preferred control scheme.
It's *FINE* to have default to WASD. You have a very predictable consumer base. But don't EVER force ANY keybinding on your gamers.
It was bad enough that I had to setup a new mouse profile to get around the initial offensively large set of hardcoded keybinds. But now I have to go back and redo it because they INCREASED the restrictions?
Utterly terrible.
Love the game, but this is one of the biggest game interface designs I've ever seen in my entire gaming life, and I'm being literal. This level of terrible decision happens once a decade.
Please... Warhorse... stop intentionally crippling us.
Stupidest customization I have ever experienced, who comes up with such nonsense and hardcodes the number field?
The biggest piece of crap that makes the game almost unplayable for me and takes all the fun out of it.
