Pole arms are still insanely bad
Saw in the patch notes that polearms were buffed, happy to see it. So I finally dueled that knight for a quest; the one with three duels… and polearms are still bad. Literally both our polearms broke before either of us could kill the other. Tier three weapons just shattered. I’ve never had a single fight do that, from max weapons to broken polearms

That happened to me too. So I put away the polearm and started punching him in the face and won that way lol.

I tried, but somehow I kept sliding away from him mid punch, so eventually I just let him hit me until it was over. The other two duels were 1/20th the time lol
Yeah, you know polearms are underpowered when the other 2 fights you can win with a single swing to the head both times. And my heavy weapons was only 2 levels higher than polearm.

A pole-axe fully charged striking the side of my opponants head? Less than 1/5th of his health. A sword masterstrike slapping the side of his head? More than half of his health. The 'balancing' was just increasing damage numbers for polearms which does nothing. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shameful, man.

It’s definitely unfortunate. I’d expect weapons like the Lucerne or Poleaxe to hit harder than any other weapon in the game. I mean they are easier to leverage, have more reach, and allows you to put the full body into with each hit. Definitely disappointed me when I found their entire category to be a hindrance more than anything. Polearms only would probably be more challenging than fists only

Sword and poison lobby is strong in this game.
It's less that it's difficult, and more that it's just god-awfully boring. With swords, you've got options, and to me, that's what makes it fun to play. I can strike from many positions, riposte effectively, masterstrike, everything. It's enjoyable, and makes me feel like I can adequately take control of my fight. Striking where I like, and disengaging when I can. When it's a pole-arm or a heavy weapon, it just devolves into a riposte counter-riposte QTE fest. There's less options, less places to strike, less of an ability to effectively counterattack. It's less rewarding. If perhaps they tried to balance it's less flexible playstyle with strikes that were incredibly hard-hitting, striking down even on a block, it'd be at least fun, but it doesn't. They hit weak. A masterstrike sword, or hell, even a regular sword strike hurts armored enemies bad, but when I connect an rare effective strike with a polearm, nothing happens. With weak performance with connective hits, less options to strike with, and a worse ability to control fights from quick strikes or masterstrikes, they're not only less viable, but just depressing to play.
