reforging sword
there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it? the blacksmith tutorial tells you that max sparks is good, but when reforging this sword Henry can give you the audio cue that something was done wrong, on a max spark hit, that isn't on the same spot as last hit, and it isn't on a cooled-down section. does anyone have a video with no error voice cues?

there's also some other peculiarities, for example the first hit each time after bringing it back from the forge is usually problematic, either giving you a mistake message or no sparks. and maybe it's all in my head but the game doesn't like you hitting the lowest portion of the longsword, that area seems to fail a lot?

something funny happened recently where it simultaneously allowed me to quench (finish) and it also failed on the same hit, so it went through the quenching animation but i didnt get anything in my inventory and no pop-up window.

i dont even use longswords, i just wanted to be able to get rid of a quest item from my inventory, and i also saw this as a neat little lore task to do on the side, but the whole thing is kinda demoralizing because it seems so random

Are you trying to reforge it mid-game?

From what I've read when looking into this, apparently you can't really get it reforged until after the story. I saw I could reforge it when I got into Kuttenburg, and I haven't had a single forging go wrong and have been able to make master rank of everything EXCEPT the reforged sword. People are saying you don't really get to successfully reforge it into the master variant until after the story. Whether this has changed or not since I looked into it, I'm not sure.

Second time I did, it was perfect! Don't over cook it in the forge! (mid game in kuttenberg)

The real question, is it morally correct to re forge it?

Pls can you re word the title and remove the spoiler because not everyone will know you get the sword back and/or can re forge it.

I reforged it easily enough, you do not have to finish it after the story. I did get visual bugs in that the correct place to strike the iron didn't match the visual place where I saw the sword. This was pre patch though so god knows how it works now but for me: going with the sparks worked

okay i figured it out, it's just that blacksmithing is kinda broken right now if you listen to the tutorial. if you ignore a bunch of game advice its so much easier to reforge radzig's sword. for example i dont have to flip the sword at all, i dont need to raise the hammer high at all, just simple clicks across the blade, dont even need to reheat the sword at all. it takes like 10 seconds. feels like im cheesing it, definitely feels broken, oh well
