I was hoping for better combat, but still the same.
I Wish Warhorse had "put down the foot" and kept the old fighting system intact and improved it somewhat without the locking mechanics.. The second game is great but this combat is just Block, attack, block, attack, block, attack. No skill is required besides good reflexes. To bad this patch 1.2 did not make it better, just as easy.. Block, attack, block, attack.. It's sad, but still it's a good game

The combat was exactly the same in KCD1, you just have less tools at your disposal and you do not even have to pay attention to the game itself since you can do master strikes by just mashing block without need to put weapon on the correct side.

If you get into perfect block & riposte chains, you are doing it wrong. Start using feints, charged attacks, dodges or just fast weapons to get ahead of your enemies. KCD2 combat is miles better than what KCD1 offered with few issues that need to be ironed out: 1) extreme stickiness of target lock on system and 2) hit detection when not locked into your target or we are fighting enemies on uneven terrain.

Brother, you control the button you press.
Why are you not perfect dodging or using clinch or other stuff?

And? Why is this a bad thing?

KCD was never a hard game. It was always about stats and gear.
Let a new player with no experience play a Henry who is level 20 with full gear, he ain't gonna struggle with the game. Be it kcd1 or kcd2. Especially kcd1 which was press Q to master strike, end of story.

Some people only struggle with the combat cause they fight a group of enemies after 2 hours starting the game while having barely any stamina.

The more experienced a player is, the easier the game will be.

Everyone in this game has 100 health and bane poison does more hp dmg meaning I can stay afar, shoot a poisoned arrow and beat anyone. The fact that this is possible in the game and alchemy is such important part of the game shows making the game "difficult" was never the intention.

All the directions are gone and it's much easier.. Some more tought into the fighting would have been nice

Hopefully Hardcore mode will make it better in some way

You're going to have to either download mods, or make mods yourself to 'fix' combat. I've found enough mods to where I'm pretty happy with it. Faster animations, scaled down weapons, mod face/head damage, smarter more aggressive enemies, etc... works pretty well.

KCD 1 combat was easier. This game is 10 times more complicated for no reason. Draw weapon still broken in KCD 2 even though it worked fine in KCD 1.

Seriously...swords lost 2 directions, other weapons more but it makes sense for most of those weapons. My take is that Warhorse had to simplify weapon positions in order to change how Master Strike works. It would be way too problematic to use 5 directions + stab for this new mechanic.

They never promised that.

They like this ♥♥♥♥ combat.

But... Attack block attack block attack block doesn't work. Not unless you want fight to take forever instead of taking out one enemy one at a time successfully first hit (unless they heavily armored).

Combo system works better than KCD1, but still a pile of ♥♥♥♥. What I do is either clinch or feint a power attack to the head which then I try to exploit with a combo.

They are in my opinion a great company, but they should have stand their ground on the combat and expanded on it and made it better instead of taking steps backward.. I love the game tough
