Is the ending bugged or just poorly done?
I'm coming off the back of a 160 hour playthrough. I did everything I could do; maxed out every stat but a few combat ones. I loved the game up until the part where it judges you for your actions. It genuinely feels like it's bugged or not working as intended.

I played the game trying to save as many people as I could. Whenever given the option I didn't kill people. I only really stole anything for quests because you have so much wealth just killing bandits it feels pointless to be robbing things to sell. So my only bad deeds in the game's eyes was putting Von Aulitz out of his misery, which he seemed to want, and making sure Brabant didn't immediately call the guards to try and kill me. Plus apparently stealing or just doing a bunch of the game's content.

In the parents judgement they seemed to have a personality change half way through, one second they're praising you for standing up for the innocents and refusing to kill them... then turn around and say you're a monster just like Istvan, you trod on everything we stood for.
The only things I could do different outside of just not doing a bunch of stealing quests would be leaving Von Aulitz to die slowly in pain, which feels like a much harsher thing to do to him, and let Brabant betray you once again at which point you have to kill him anyway.

It just doesn't feel satisfying; like the end of the game punishes you for having misery and not being stupid. Oh and I saved Sam just for the record.

In my opinion, neither.

Same here, exc. I let Aulitz to die without helping (killing) him. It seems like the ending was just about some answers to the parents questions and not in fact about our deeds during the game. Kinda let down, but ok.

It's all in Henry's head , figments of his imagination, could have shortened that ending a bit and provide a better one where he officially gets knighted or something more creative and/or unexpected.
Henry's mum is an uptight ♥♥♥♥♥ - just because he's the MC in a computer game doesn't mean he's owed a saint for a dead parent!
The parents scene sucked. It was poorly done. Good idea, sucky execution.

Really sorry, or just "this will get me the best ending" sorry?
The parents dream is pretty lame. Either way, just say that you're not happy (because there was so much suffering) and that you're sorry (for the bad things you did, but you were put into a poor situation) and they don't go that hard and are proud of you.
I killed both von Aulitz (honorably) and Brabant.
Spared Semine and Maleshov.
Let Sam die.

These are all the most logical things for Henry to do anyway. von Aulitz you can make an argument for letting him die on his own, but either way, there's no excuse if you butcher the guy.

Brabant is a traitor and can't be trusted. Not sparing Semine and Maleshov lead to innocents dying.

The choice between Sam and the entire fortress is an easy one. Losing the silver makes the whole siege with the suffering, loss of property, and life be in vain. Also, Henry taking an extra day to reach help could have led to everyone dying. Choosing Sam would have been selfish. Sam made his own choice.

I figured it was Hal's opportunity to "be the adult" and stand responsibly for his decisions.

They were not at all happy with my Henry, but guess what? They're dead, and Hal is shouldering responsibility for his own actions. That's what adults do.

My reading, anyway.
