Mouse and Keyboard combat
I find it quite challenging to use combos while using a mouse.. directions are sometimes impossible to make, as mouse sensitivity might cause direction to change before hit is made which interrupts the combo. This is especially problematic for combos where you need to change directions in quick succession (left, stab right, or left top right etc), as very often mouse wont register the change of direction made... which makes the whole combat quite frustrating, if you chose to focus on combos... practically, you end up being better off feinting strikes and master strike when possible.. every single time i try to focus on combo, it either fails to register my movement properly, or enemy just masterstrikes my moves, which makes the whole thing pointless...

I think there needs to be some adjustments to how movement is registered by mouse. I tried all possible mouse sensitivity settings, (and highest one are completely unusable, as it makes controlling the view impossibly fast) with no luck improving my issue..

Are there any hidden settings that could be adjusted to make combos on mouse a bit easier to accomplish? I dont want to play this game with controller..

In German there is a proverb.
"Übung macht den Meister."
"Exercise makes the master."

It's easy with keyboard and mouse, just exercise with all trainers.
You will get it.
The combat & combo system is totally simplified.

Besides, who plays with a controller a PC game?
This is Bollocks.

The only thing what's annoying are all these hobos in rags bandits blocking with trash and broken weapons your 4500 Groschen weapon to give the game "cinematic action" scenes but it feels totally unrealistic when a hobo with a crappy 5 Groschen wooden club blocks your masterly crafted battle knight axe or your duelling sword.

In the first game was a mod where only veterans, knights and bandit leaders could masterblock, masterstrike and fight like real soldiers and not some peasants and forest hobos with some trash weaponry.

Just exercise with the trainers. No stress, take your time. You will get it.

what i mean is its extremely hard to actually strike the direction i want to.. because despite my perceived movement being correct, game doesnt recognize it and whole combo gets interrupted. FOr example trainng with Tomcat, where you have to execute his combo with upper strike, i usually have to try it at least 20 times until i randomly manage to execute it.. its extremely frustrating..

and FYI - i have 479hours in KCD2... yet i still struggle to execute combos reliably... even against trainers that just stand there and defend themselves...

Remember:

Hitting from the left leads automatically to the right.
Hitting from the right leads automatically to the left.

These are the base combos with "Left - Right - Left - Right"
or "Right - Left - Right - Left".

For these combos you don't need to direct the mouse. It is automatically done.
Just move your cursor to either right or left and start clicking on the left mouse button, shortly before the weapon hits.
Learn these both combos first.
That's what I meant with simplified

Hitting from above leads automatically to the left.

But, the combo goes "Above - Right - Left".
This means:
You start from above and click on the left mouse button. Shortly before your weapon hits the opponent, move the mouse to the right and click the left mouse button.
You will hit the opponnent on the right and shortly before doing so, just click again the left mouse button without to move the mouse and it will automatically hit the left side of the opponent and finish the combo.

Again:

Attacking from LEFT leads automatically to the RIGHT.
Attacking from the RIGHT leads automatically to the LEFT.
Attacking from ABOVE leads automatically to the LEFT.

Hope this helps. In the begin for me it was also tricky but I managed it after I got some durable armor to train with Tomcat without to wasting time for healing in the herbwoman's house after every training lesson due the lack of durable armor in the begin.

You will get it my friend.
When I can do it, everyone can do it and I hate patience and finicky mouse controls.

Try to slightly move the mouse when doing combos
OR Tab locks onto the target

Thank you,

You are welcome and I thank you, too, good Sir.
I'm pulling off combos just fine here with mouse and keyboard, just need to turn the sensitivity down. It's just as @Grancor said, good instruction.
My trick is for 3 move combo you only have to move the mouse twice, for 4 move combo you only have to move the mouse 3 times. for example you do rosen up left left right, move mouse up->click then left->click move left again->click then wait for the blink and click again. It's because the last part of combo is always the natural position of weapon after the 3rd attack. While for 3 move combo such as knee strike left up left, i just move twice which is left and up. While the last one just wait for the blink then click because it's the natural weapon position after upward slash.
With the exception for natural combos like left right left or up left right.
