Looking forward to sharing more in the future!
I like reactive music rather than the standard harsh stop/start trigger of most videogame soundtracks.
Trivia blurb brought to my brain by this mention:
(Austin Wintory is all about reactive music. He often composes in a modular, layered fashion where the music doesn't stop but the arrangement adapts to the events such as environment and player action. There's an Aliens action game where there are lulls in one map and the horns and strings drop out leaving the percussion and woodwinds to keep the feeling of continued urgency without the chaos of the swarms, and when specific events happen such as sudden Alien attacks or players set off bomb weapons, there will be musical "stings". He also did the music for a game [what I'd consider a swimming {walking} simulator] that had a "choir" of harps. The transitions in that game were gradual as players entered and exited environments with harp stings when players did things suddenly. The audio engines in those games would mix the layers of music real-time. There's also the music in AC:Syndicate where the pub songs would change as major targets would be eliminated. He called them "Murder Ballads" that made fun of the executed individuals. ...and there are the movies. Bullet Head is not a monster movie as the marketing department portrayed. I saw the movie before seeing promos, and the promos are waaaay off. It's a good movie unless you're expecting a monster movie. Make the Yuletide Gay is a strange little comedy. He even arranged "King Wenceslas" in that movie which sounds awful but is appropriate to that scene.)
Really like the Saint Barbara theme.
Also this one from the prequel is also great:

I made a similar thread years ago about the first game, marveling at how good the music was. The composer actually saw my post, reached out and said "Thank you."
Yep. Warhorse pays attention.
And yes, the music in this game is a marvel. I'd like to be able to get a hi-rez digital copy of it.
Yeah - Imperium Dekadenz is an excellent black metal band from Germany, and some of their instrumentals are insanely beautiful. It was so perfect it was hard to believe that this song came out years before the game. I'm hoping they do something like this again.
Why in the hell would youtube put an age restriction on this piece of music ?
