The combat in KCD2 can be punishing if you mess up, but it's so incredibly cheeseable if you know what you're doing. Just play defensively and you simply can't lose any 1v1 fight. You'll eventually get in enough repost hits to win, even if you're severely under leveled. Just remember to stop attacking/reposting if your stamina is running low. It'd be even easier if you use master strikes or feint/combos, but if you stink at it just play the long-game and you literally can not lose. I think my fight against Istvan lasted less than 10 seconds (and I found him in my makeshift sneaking gear so I was practiacly naked). It was pretty anti-climactic.
It gets harder as you progress, in the second area you'll come up across enemies who will start to feint or fake you out on master strikes and can block pretty much any standard attack, they're also much better equipped.

True. Go to Opatowitz and you will get destroyed, trust me, it's harder than Souls games.

Edit: North of the camp near Suchdol, you know, the camp of the thingy you know.

I've been in the Kuttenberg area for several hours now and I haven't noticed any spike in difficulty? I've also been to Opatowitz and combat remains quite cheesable... And OP wasn't asking about late game combat, he was stuck at Istvan.
Using a 2 Hander helped me out tremendously. Strafe the table, don't let him hit you, master block if you can.

Hey, could you help me if you're still there?
I would need a savefile from this moment, I just overwrote my game data, trying to find someone who could me their save from this point of the game.

You know Steam discussions, they always derail in one way or another. At least this one is about the game and not about something else, which usually is the case...
I hadn't actually cleared out Opatowitz yet so I went and had a go: https://imgur.com/a/ezpz-4pi0fd0 (I always forget to lower my visor..)

You had it easy. For me they were fully geared in some of best armour. Full face shield, full body and all. I literally had to activate cheats to defeat them. And I had really good stuff. I also approached from the other side where the bridge is and caught the attention of 6-7 of them and they all hit me at the same time, meaning that there was no way to win or attract only one at a time...

He really shouldn't one shot you unless your stamina is gone. That's how combat in this game works. Draining all your stamina makes you vulnerable.

All you have to do is be patient. Block and riposte repeatedly until your attack gets through.
unfortunate skill issue

Dont get hit lol

The second you load into the fight, take a couple steps back and create distance

Then just fight em like you would anyone else

Dude the mofo 1 shots me.

It's literally impossible, even if i get hit 1 time its over.

You can loot some armor if you assassinate the guards on the lower levels.

Can't i learn from some other master in Kuttenberg ?
No, only Tomcat knows this.

Edit: Takes like 5 min to get the skill. You can travel back after you reach a certain tavern in Kuttenberg early on.

I just learned master strike from Dry Devil in Kuttenberg region, it also completed "Combat Training II" activity

That's good to know.

Weird, seems like a lot of people just ignored Tomcat. Which to be fair is understandable. Combat training? We're gamers, we know how to play games right.
Am I just overleveled? I assumed I was supposed to complete all the side quests before the final MSQ. Everyone I meet just dies in one or two hits. There's actually 0 chance I can get a Mittelhaw High combo in (down right right left) because they die from the 2nd or 3rd hit.
