Crashing PC GPU to black screen, nothing helps
I'm 30+ hours into the game, and first 20 hours did not experience any performance problems at all, running ultra settings — but now I'm getting crash every 10 minutes. Sometimes it happens even a few minutes after loading a game, sometimes lets me play for 20 minutes.

These are not desktop or BSOD crashes — my GPU just turns off like it malfunctions, leaving black screen with no signal, with no message or error log. I still have some sound in my headphones for some time afterwards, but cannot restart GPU without restarting the whole PC, so that's what I do each time.

My setup is Nvidia 3070 Ti (8 GB), Intel i9-12900KF, 96 GB DDR5, M.2 SSD Samsung 980PRO. And this type of crashes I have only in KCD2 — not a single time in any other game.

What I tried:

1. First I checked if it overheats or anything. Nope, running at 82-83 °C.

2. Reinstalled Nvidia drivers, got the latest 572.24 version.

3. Used MSI Afterburner to scan my setup for productivity issues. It saw that setup lacks voltage (that's how I interpret the "Dominant limiter: Voltage" and "Results are considered unstable" messages). I applied the recommended curve for voltage and clock management.

I also tried several times to monitor GPU and CPU temperatures, voltage etc, but saw no sudden spikes or reaching extreme values there.

4. Since my DLSS was already disabled (I was running natively), I tried subsequentially turning FSR on, disabling Vsync, changing FPS lock, lowering graphics quality to medium.

5. Checked the integrity of Steam files.

6. Reinstalled MS C++ redistributables.

Game keeps crashing.

So far I haven't found any solution. The only thing I didn't do is reinstall the game.

Temperature issue most likely.
I wish it were a temp issue. Nothing of the like, unfortunately.
A game cannot cause hardware failure, which's what this sounds like, specifically it sounds like your PSU is failing to deliver the amount of power your system is trying to draw, causing the computer to shut down.

On the conspiracy side of things, this could be an Intel issue, I remember they had an issue with that CPU crashing not that long ago.
Updated my bios and still have this issue. Stuff like this makes you miss the console days.
----->>> Win+Ctrl+Shift+B is shortcut to restart graphic card/drivers on the fly.

If your GPU is runing at 83C then somethiing is definitely wrong. You should try blow off in fans.. clean graphic card fans.

Usually nvidia cards never go over 70ish in games. Check this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghs7btyrViY 30 games and he never go over 70C.. so 83C means something is wrong.

Try lowering everything to low.. if it will make it longer to crash, then it must be something with gpu. Maybe that temp..or not enough watts from PSU.
Try increase power limits on gpu in MSI afterburner or lower clocks in same tool.

Check if you have the "Local Hero" perk (under Main Level).
If you do have it activated, use a Lethean Water to reset your perks.
And now try to play without picking that perk.

Console players are suffering too.
In my case, when I erased everything with DDU and installed the latest graphics driver, it became a black screen and it didn't run.

Workaround:

Nvidia App -> Graphics Tab -> KingdomCom 2 program was added to optimize it, so it worked.
83 C temp on GPU. Yikes. My GPU running game at 1440p everything on max only gets to 53-55 C temps. I know every GPU chip and different models and heat sinks are different but that is a massive difference. Might want to improve your cases airflow or undervolt your GPU or something.

If not tried already, try lowering your power target in Afterburner to 70% instead of 100%. Also lower your GPU max clock by 200 mhz or so. See if it makes any difference. Seen things like this help in other games before with similar issues.

I have had that perk for over 50 hours and the game has been running flawlessly. Are you saying that perk is causing these game crashes and restarts players are getting?

Why not just play on ps5 if you only have an 8GB card?

Hello friend did you have still this problem i have rx 6800 and have this same problem

unfortunatelly, i ran plenty of tests and narrowed my problem to either faulty GPU or PSU.
I Srtarted a RMA process and they asked me to test with another, better PSU. i have a Corsair VS600 (probably busted), and a backup RX560. No problems since i switched Graphics card.
Problem persisted even after a clean install with the 6700XT. I ordered a MWE 750 as a replacement for my 10 year old VS600 and got a friend to test my 6700xt in the meanwhile.
Probably by Monday i'll have an update
