Crashing PC GPU to black screen, nothing helps
I'm 30+ hours into the game, and first 20 hours did not experience any performance problems at all, running ultra settings — but now I'm getting crash every 10 minutes. Sometimes it happens even a few minutes after loading a game, sometimes lets me play for 20 minutes.

These are not desktop or BSOD crashes — my GPU just turns off like it malfunctions, leaving black screen with no signal, with no message or error log. I still have some sound in my headphones for some time afterwards, but cannot restart GPU without restarting the whole PC, so that's what I do each time.

My setup is Nvidia 3070 Ti (8 GB), Intel i9-12900KF, 96 GB DDR5, M.2 SSD Samsung 980PRO. And this type of crashes I have only in KCD2 — not a single time in any other game.

What I tried:

1. First I checked if it overheats or anything. Nope, running at 82-83 °C.

2. Reinstalled Nvidia drivers, got the latest 572.24 version.

3. Used MSI Afterburner to scan my setup for productivity issues. It saw that setup lacks voltage (that's how I interpret the "Dominant limiter: Voltage" and "Results are considered unstable" messages). I applied the recommended curve for voltage and clock management.

I also tried several times to monitor GPU and CPU temperatures, voltage etc, but saw no sudden spikes or reaching extreme values there.

4. Since my DLSS was already disabled (I was running natively), I tried subsequentially turning FSR on, disabling Vsync, changing FPS lock, lowering graphics quality to medium.

5. Checked the integrity of Steam files.

6. Reinstalled MS C++ redistributables.

Game keeps crashing.

So far I haven't found any solution. The only thing I didn't do is reinstall the game.

Same thing happening to me after a 10 hour run :P. GPU and CPU temps fine... Running a 4070 on 600w. Now playing today it has done the same thing after about 15mins of gameplay....

Sorry to hear that. My power unit is also well above 3070 Ti requirements (1200W), electricity network's fine. It's definitely the game.

I've got this problems too with many games (never got any answer whats wrong hardware ok software ok ) , a workaround i found is open the Nvidia controlpanel >> go on help >> activate the debug mode. Its a workaround thats works for me maybe for you too

How does entering the debug mode affect anything? Or should I do something next?

Bei mir "crashed" das Game jetzt auch regelmäßig den PC. So was habe ich noch bei keinem anderen Game bislang gehabt. Gibt es dafür eine gute Lösung, um das Problem abzustellen?
Could be the latest nvidia driver causing the issue people are having tons of issues with it

The only thing I can think of would be reinstalling your graphics drivers completely and stop overclocking if you are.
Same issue here with a 6700XT.
After 30 hours the game crashed, black screen and disabled my GPU twice, now it happens even when not playing. Reinstalled older driver and didnt fix the problem

So, I started having the same issue today, played for around 30 hours without any crashes or issues (nvidia 5080, ryzen7 9800x3d) and suddenly the GPU started disconnecting after playing for around ~20min.

What seems to have fixed it for me: I uninstalled reshade for KCD2, disabled DLSS and capped the fps in the nvidia control panel to 90. Since then no more crashes, tested for 2 hours so far, might help anyone else out.

update: this worked for around 10 hours, but now I did have the GPU disconnect again, during a cutscene. So not fixed.

does it only happen during the nighttime?
I recently had this and had to send my GPU for RMA, it's dying, if you still have warranty send it now. Been waiting almost 4 months on a replacement but have a better replacement in the meanwhile

It's obviously a (you) problem with the video card overheating, 82-83 °C IS overheating you numb skull the driver cut off is at 90C where it panic and turn off

same here im playing like 20min - 1hour my pc freeze and give blackscreen wating for patch 11 days i pre-order the game but cannot playing it soo sad
Sorry you are having issues. I do hope you find a fix.
