Storm a Source of Ragequit
I’ll just say this about this particular quest. ♥♥♥♥. That. Below are spoilers for the end of what’s basically act 1 if you haven’t reached a new region yet, read at your own peril.

The Storm is an absolute cancer of a mission. It comes in two parts. Part one is in the castle and two in the woods of Apollonian.

Let’s talk part one. In part one you escape from the dungeon, make your way around the castle where there are very few guards, climb the tower and finally rid the world of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Istvan. This part is super easy. There are 6 guards, no cities, and 3 of them are sleeping. Then you get to part two.

And ♥♥♥♥ me sideways that is possibly the worst quest in the game to date, and quite possibly the worst quest in any game to date.

Listen, I’ve played a lot of stealth games where you need to creep rather than kill. But those games are built around it with mechanics developed for that purpose.

Anyway, 15 deaths later, this is how I beat the quest in the end.

My strength was reduced to 3 so I was heavily overloaded. First before you leave the cave, drink an artemisia potion. You should have a regular and a strong one if you looted the castle throughly. Drink the strong one. Then put on your stealth suit. Doesn’t have to be that good. Anything you looted from the castle that has low visibility and noise.

Exit the cave and head forward to the rocks on the left right across from the cave. Wait for the staff meeting to end and then sneak around the rock to where the guards were talking. Keep heading that way. There is a single guard standing watch. Sneak up on him and stealth kill him.

Exit save the game. Reload.

Turn south and climb toward the crest of the hill. This is by far the easiest way to go. You’ll reach a spot about halfway to your objective where you will run into an intersection of several patrols. Wait for them to pass crouching in a bush. With low vis clothes they can pass very close to you.

Once they disperse, exit save the game. Reload

Continue parallel until you reach a point where the marker is starting to move to your left. At that point make another exit save.

Go down, stealth kill the guy guarding Mike. Untie him. Game Save happens.

From here it is a lot easier. Follow Mike’s instructions. There will be another stationary guard you can stealth kill easy. Make sure to drink another Artemis potion if you ran out.

Exit save again. Continue heading south and try edging as much as you can to the crest of the hill. Eventually you’ll reach an area mid way to the marker where there aren’t any more guards. At that point just stand up and jog.

TLDR. Artemis potion to mitigate the worst of the strength debuff.

Circle around the mouth of the cave and head toward the objective cresting the top of the gorge.

Low vis clothes are a must.

Drop many exit saves.

If you’re frustrated, quit the game, come back to it some other time. I slept on it and then crushed it in one go after having rage quit the evening before doing 15 reloads and using colorful profanity.

Also, and this is kind of up to you but I don’t recommend using night vision potion. It helps you see better but it makes it more difficult to spot deep shadows and makes you question if the guards can see you where you’re at.

This and for whom the bell tolls made it difficult to want to keep going. Its just not fun. But every other mission has been awesome, so we will see what awaits in the next area
This quest is stupidly easy, you just need to crouch and throw stones to distract the ones in your way. If you want to fight you know who in a duel, just kill the guard asleep at the table and steal his gear.
I did the entire quest on my first try, you can run right by everyone at the second part if you want, they can't catch you if you're fast enough.

Whom the Bell Tolls I enjoyed a good bit. Storm part one as well, but the woods did me in man. It left me in a dark place yesterday evening. Then I woke up and crushed it. :D

That depends on how much you got tortured and how encumbered you are because of gear. I carried my kit I recovered, and that alone made me not being able to go fast at all. Had to sort it out with Artemisia potions to get any kind of speed.

I don't think people understand when a game has a skill checkpoint to make sure you can even do the next content. From what I read from everyone who complains about Storm i could not even imagine them doing half the content in the second region. Stealth becomes apart of what you do in some sections and if you don't have BASIC understanding of how to do it then you will become even more frustrated than this mission.

Why don't you have dark clothing? *Starts complaining about how that's not their playstyle*
Okay then why don't you level up your stealth a bit on the previous section with the EASY half asleep 6 guards? *Stats ranting about grinding in an RPG*

We are trying to help you since you come to the forums but all you want to do is spout nonsense because you probably rushed the content, didn't want to level anything and wanted to rush the MSQ. It gets old hearing the same issues pop up.

My take on the Storm Quest: It needs a popup beforehand like it does before some sections telling you that you are not going to be able to come back for awhile to tell you to go get some dark clothing this requires a stealth section for those who are stealth impaired. This game is not hard at all when it comes to stealth, in fact in my opinion stealth is the cowards way out its overpowered and the easy way out like skyrims stealth archer.
I'm a bit confused, people are telling they've to do this naked and debuffed, but when I played it I had my full gear and no debuff, had to fight a group just at the underground exit (I had to reload once as I was surprised at first), then avoided some and fought a couple others "pods", but the guys are pathetic for the most part
Also used a Nighthawk potion for better visibility

Personally, just block and move on. It's always private account making these type of posts where they basically reply to everyone without any level of reasoning be it post or reply.

Op's post looks detailed but anyone who has played this game can figure out the flaws in minutes.
First suggest, a potion called Artemesia. Both normal and strong. Over 100 hours in the game, never made it, never used it.

Then repeatedly suggests to use save and quit. And then again restart the game.

So what does this mean?
Even though you get all your gear back in the castle, Op didn't have a single saviour schnapps with him. That's why he couldn't save normally.
Op is an extreme rare case of lacking the ability to play a game with a 50-50 chance of trying to farm jester awards.

Same with the other users replying here who agree with him. All private account or hidden playtime.

Just let them rush the MQ and suffer. He won't be the first and certainly won't be the last.

Us KCD folks will be dealing with people like him for the next few years.

It's an endless cycle, "Rush MQ, complain, come here, and call game bad. Warhorse is no stranger to this, they kept the game difficult and the same as KCD 1 for a reason. They know who the true fans are.

Lmao. Kcd2 difficulty the same as kcd1. Hell no it's not.

Kcd2 is piss easy compared to kcd1. I never played HC in kcd1 it can't wait for HC in kcd2 due to how easy kcd2 is vs kcd1

I had trouble with this quest as well till I figured out why I kept failing it

Avoid the debuff through speech choices and checks.
Pillage castle, retrieve gear, kill anything that moves, steal all the things.
Stealth kill first man in woods, hack his friends into chunky kibble.
Stealth kill man between rocks, stroll through woods avoiding road and patrols.
Stealth kill man by wagon. Profit?

I definitely did not rush the MQ. My Henry's stats seem to be very high. I have spent 60 hours in the game and completed all side content I have been able to find before moving on with the MQ. I have never had much difficulty doing stealth missions. My character is not debuffed or naked or under powered. But, what I encountered is no clear path to stealth through the Storm mission without having to kill any guards. And The guards are not killable, they break free from the stealth kill and there is no way to fight 10 of them at the same time. There must be some secret stealth path that most people accident upon then come in here to act haughty. But this seems to be a terribly misplaced and out of context skill check. If there were to be a skill chedk to block progression it should have been before the showdown with Ischtvan or even better back in the open world section of the game. I do not know what anyone is talking about when they claim Storm is not a problem. I defeated Ischtvan a week ago but have not been able to progress to Kuttenberg.

I said it in another thread and i will say it again:

There are 4 reasons why this is a bad mission that makes players ragequit:

1. Loss of patience. Many players usually pick 1 playstyle and get checked HARD on their missing skills during the quest. Not enough social skills gets you torture debuffs. Can't get rid of that until AFTER this mission. So they want to get things over with.
Low stealth kills makes it harder to stealth kill the guards or get around without a fight in an already weakened state. Unfun, so they want to get it over with. ....
2. Spawning of enemies is at times random, so depending on RNGesus the patrols might run in tighter intervals, making it harder to sneak by.
3. Absurd amount of guards running around in the woods looking for you. There are more people looking for you than previously lived in the entire castle while the game tells you that the Lord and his army are away .... that kind of difficulty just feels artificial.
4. Bugs in the stealth/detection mechanic. Sometimes guard don't see you while staring at point blank at the bush you are hiding in, at other times, they detect your noise level 0 naked dirty Henry from 20+ metres away although i had both the dirt perk and the bushes perk. The stone throwing is bugged too, with them making no sound when thrown from above or not against a surface the programmers thought should make a sound.

While point 1 is on the player, points 2 - 4 are not and ruin the game.
And i will see if the big patch fixed my problems in point 4, but that will take a while. I wont go near that questline until i am 20+ in just about every attribute and skill.
